BABIES | TODDLERS | PRESCHOOLERS 2016 YEAR OFREADINGGUIDE Building a City of Readers Your Baby’s | Toddler’s | Preschooler’s Year of Reading If you have a little one in your life, it is important to know that early language and learning development begins in the first three years of life and is closely linked to your child’s earliest experiences. When you talk, respond, sing, read, and play with your baby, you are actually nurturing and stimulating the development of your baby’s brain! Library staff have put together an age-appropriate list of recommended board books for babies, picture books for toddlers and preschoolers, as well as nursery rhymes and fairy tales that you can share with your little one. Our knowledgeable staff are always on hand to make additional recommendations. All you need to start your little one on the road to a world of adventure through reading is a FREE Calgary Public Library card and our Year of Reading Guide for Babies/Toddlers/Preschoolers. Use the Guide to find your next read with your little one, track progress, or take notes and share great book suggestions with family and friends who have little ones of their own.
