Giving your child
the foundation for
future success is one
of the biggest and
most stressful decisions
a parent can make. At
this young age, this one
key decision will shape
the way your child views
the world around them.
This decision will also be
monumental as a major
step in their development
of personality, character
and how they treat others.
This foundation is the focus of
our award-winning curriculum
nestled in a nurturing
environment here on the safe
campus of St. Vincent de Paul in
Mount Vernon, Ohio. Upcoming
screenings for the 2017-2018
kindergarten class will be held on
May 5th. We have a few spots still
available for your child to join the
best kept educational secret in Knox
County.
school’s culture. Your child's overall health is important so we
are a SADS Foundation Heart Safe School. This accreditation
program consists of “7 Elements" aimed at preparing and
preventing heart related emergencies. These elements include
screening, care plans, emergency response drills, Automatic
External Defibrillators (AEDs), CPR training for teachers and 8th
grade students. St. Vincent de Paul School provides physical
education class for all grades, and believes in the value of
ample recess time outside.
Diversity in Education
The quality of education at St. Vincent de Paul School is
second to none. Starting in kindergarten, Spanish, art, and music
accompany all the traditional subjects such as reading, math,
English and physical education. We have an award-winning
science program that exposes students to science, technology
and engineering. The Ohio Academy of Science in partner with
The Ohio Third Frontier have awarded Saint Vincent de Paul
School with the Thomas Edison Award for excellence in STEM
(science, technology, engineering, and math) education. While
we are a Catholic school in teachings and beliefs one does
not need to be a member of the Catholic Church to enjoy this
educational opportunity for your child. In fact, over 25% of our
student body population are families of other faiths enjoying
the best educational opportunity in Knox County.

The success of the school is defined the success of each child
we serve. As a private school, we cherish the fact that you
CHOOSE and entrust your child's education and well-being
to our staff. We have proven year after year that we provide
the quality educational and values that are promised in our
Mission and Belief statements. This consistent success has
allowed us to provide education in the Mount Vernon area for
over 160 years!
At St. Vincent de Paul School the entire school community
plays a part in your child’s education. Teachers, administrators,
volunteers, parents, and even fellow students take an active role.
Starting in kindergarten, the youngest students are matched
with students from all grade levels. This provides each student
with a “school family.” The oldest being an 8th grader that
serves as the family leader. This creates an environment where
the older students safeguard and mentor the younger students.
In these “families,” the older students provide leadership and
friendship. This bond last for the duration of the student’s time
at St. Vincent de Paul School. You will not find another school
that has such a positive and involved learning environment.

Informed and Safety
Informed
and Safe
St. Vincent de Paul School takes a comprehensive approach
to safety.
In 2015 a new addition to the school building
was completed. The main administrative offices are in the
new addition. This has created a single secure entrance for
admittance to the lobby and additional security door to
gain access to the student areas. We are also adding safety
cameras and monitors inside the building to our existing outside
system to increase school safety. Each classroom has a safety
lock harnesses to further secure a classroom if needed.
St. Vincent de Paul School continues to lead the way in making
sure our families have complete peace of mind when entrusting
us with their precious children.
We are also proud to be enrolled in U.S. based anti-bully
program, “No Bully," (www.nobully.org) which provides anti-bully

Using Christ as an example, we welcome all faiths and value
our diverse student body. Children are not just met with love
by teachers and staff but are truly shown how to help others
through service and leadership. Simple concepts of respect
for others and self are implemented daily. This spirit is fostered
through every activity of the school community. We serve to
provide an environment that drives your child on a path to
becoming the best part of society now and in the future.
We truly hope you consider entrusting your child to St. Vincent
