ELECTION OF THE AKR KENDO BOARD, IAIDO BOARD AND JODO BOARDS
Following comments and suggestions after previous Boards elections, AKR National Council has adopted new procedures for the election of
members to our Kendo, Iaido and Jodo Boards.
Our procedures now provide for –

Eligibility* of all voters to be confirmed, prior to envelopes containing votes are opened and counted;

All votes to be secret and to be lodged by post;

Votes to be counted by a person external to the Board being voted for;

Scrutineers to be permitted during the vote counting;

An audit of votes and eligibility to vote is also provided for, if requested or needed.
Full details of the new election policy are available in Section 1 of the AKR Manual of Documents.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTAL VOTING
*Eligible voters are Ordinary Affiliate Members of the Australian Kendo Renmei who have also paid the fee for the Board being voted for.
Please vote for the Board of the art or arts that you are registered for and that you practice.
Please read and follow the instructions carefully.

TO PLACE A VOTE, YOU WILL NEED THESE ITEMS
1. A separate official ballot form for each Board election (included with these instructions);
2. Two Envelopes.
a. An envelope to contain each Board ballot form. We refer to this as the secret ballot envelope or envelopes.
b. An envelope for posting, which contains the secret ballot envelope/s. We refer to this as the return privacy envelope.
INSTRUCTIONS TO PLACE YOUR VOTES
To vote, please carefully read and follow these instructions:
1. Read each ballot form carefully before making any marks.
2. Following the instructions, mark the ballot form to place your vote/s. Do not write or sign your name or make marks or writings
of any other kind on the ballot form.
3. Fold and place the ballot form into a secret ballot envelope and seal it. Do not sign your name or make marks or writings of any
other kind on this secret ballot envelope.
4. Place the secret ballot envelope into a second envelope. We refer to this as the return privacy envelope.
5. **On the back of the return privacy envelope you MUST also INCLUDE your AKR registry ID number, your name, the name of your
State Association and the name/s of the Board that you are voting for.
6. ONLY if you are eligible to vote for MORE THAN ONE Board and the election for both is at the same time and you are submitting a
vote for each, please also write only the art name (Ie. “Iaido” or “Jodo”) on the outside of each secret ballot envelope.
7. Place the sealed secret ballot envelope or envelopes inside the return privacy envelope, seal and address it, prior to posting.
8. Post or deliver the return privacy envelope to arrive at the above address, prior to the advised cut off date.
NOTES:

You may complete only one ballot form for each Board election.

**If your AKR registry ID number is unknown to you, it may be found printed on your AKR Dan Certificate, if you have one; or
you can obtain it from your club or your state secretary. Only if your AKR registry ID number is not located, your date of
birth may be used. This information is used to determine voter eligibility and to prevent multiple vote casting. Without all of
these details, your vote will not be eligible to be counted.

Your AKR membership status and your Board fee status will be checked to be current, prior to your return privacy envelope
being opened.
RESULTS: The result of the elections will be announced by the AKR Secretary after the count is completed.
