Terra-Gator 8333 The most intelligent transmission in farming Pump Challenger’s TechStar continuously variable transmission has been specified for the Terra-Gator 8333 as a standard feature. Significantly more efficient than other powershift or hydrostatic transmissions, TechStar has proven its worth on thousands of AGCO-brand tractors, having the capability to transmit full engine power at any speed up to 40km/h. In fact, it allows the operator to set any forward speed at any engine rpm, to provide precision control, superb quality of work and maximum productivity at all times. Excellent fuel economy and reduced driver stress are other major bonuses. The advanced Power Management feature maintains an ‘intelligent’ electronic link between engine and transmission – using pedal or lever modes – to automatically optimise engine speed through the entire engine revs/speed range, so that the pre-set forward speed is sustained. Output goes up and fuel consumption down as a result. TechStar CVT gives the operator a choice of driving modes – automatic with Power Management, a foot pedal or the drive lever. In addition, the Power Direction lever, located to the left of the steering wheel, allows seamless forward and reverse shuttling, together with an active standstill. Speed in both directions can be altered by simply pushing the lever forward or pulling it backwards. Hydropump has a 45 degrees angle. This is made possible by the conixal plugner. 2 hydromotors feed the hydraustatic part of the cvt. The combination of tried and tested hydraulic and mechanical elements maximises efficiency and ensures optimum durability and reliability. TechStar CVT also ensures that firm, continuous traction is applied, minimising wheelslip and therefore any disturbance of the soil or grass surface. Quick and easy to input the settings, this advanced automatic facility constantly monitors for optimum performance, leaving the operator free to concentrate on other aspects of the task in hand. Motor 16 16 km/h km/h 16 1 16 km/h km/h 1. TechStar CVT transmission 16 km/h Engine speed Fuel consumption SERIOUS MACHINERY 5 Proven engine technology Reliable, powerful, fuel efficient and clean, AGCO SISUPower diesel engines are recognised as being the most effective power source for a range of agricultural applications and provide the driving force for many AGCO brand tractors, combines and specialist machines. The Citius 8.4-litre six-cylinder unit powering the new Terra-Gator 8333 generates 360hp (max) and is perfectly matched with the TechStar CVT transmission. The four-valves per cylinder, common rail design ensures optimal combustion, time after time. Full CANbus electronic control of both engine and machine systems is enabled by the SISUtronic engine management system, which makes it ideal for working with Power Management for immediate response to changing conditions and engine loads. Maximum power of 360hp is produced at 2,000rpm, while rated power of 335hp is achieved at 2,200rpm to ensure peak power at low engine speeds. With a reduced rpm requirement on both road and grass, less fuel is used and less engine noise created A massive torque rise of 40 per cent ensures maximum traction under heavy loads. A new, aluminium cooling package, developed by AGCO engineers, ensures the engine operates at the optimum temperature and features a variablespeed viscous fan, which regulates airflow according to engine load. Access to the engine, intercooler, transmission and air-conditioning radiators has been improved to allow quick and easy filter changes and oil checks. The two polypropelene fuel tanks reduce vehicle weight and eliminate corrosion. They have a capacity of 620 litres, lockable caps and can be filled from ground level on both sides of the machine. km/h 0 km/h 40 30 30 20 20 10 10 0 0 6 Power (kW) km/h 40% 40 0% 0 % Torque Torq que (Nm) ( Speed-rpm Terra-Gator 8333 Strong, one-piece chassis The main chassis beams are single lengths of high grade, cold-rolled steel from front to rear, allowing the Terra-Gator 8333’s centre of gravity to be lowered for greater stability. The reduced number of welding points gives the whole structure greater durability under stress, while maintaining the integrity of an inherently strong design. The new concept and construction marks a departure from the chassis on previous models, which acted as an air reservoir for the pumping system. Air tanks situated closer to the 700 litre/min, two-chamber compressor now hold the pressurised air. This allows hoses to be shorter for faster start-ups and enable easy repair of any air leak that may occur. Designed for use with mounted injectors, the linkage has power-down, constant lift and float settings, with an integral suspension for when working with heavy implements. For speedy changing of the injectors, a quick coupler frame is available, together with a multi-coupler for the hydraulic connections. In addition, electronic hitch control facility is offered. A three-point linkage of massive strength A rugged Cat III three-point linkage can be fitted to the Terra-Gator 8333, with Cat 3 or 4 ball-ends or Walterscheid quick couplers. Lateral movement is controlled by heavy-duty stabilisation chains, while the hitch has a hydraulic cushion in the form of a nitrogen accumulator. This absorbs downward shocks when the hitch is at maximum lift, preventing peak loads on the cylinders and exerting less stress on the chassis. SERIOUS MACHINERY 7 New levels of comfort & control With pneumatic suspension as standard, the new cab on the TG8333 has been lowered by 17cm. The newly-designed sloping bonnet and bigger glass area ensure that the view for the operator is still panoramic, but his comfort levels are significantly enhanced by the reduction in lateral movement that lowering the cab achieves. Wide steps provide very easy access to a new longer, wider – and safer – entry platform, which extends forward to the side of the bonnet to give clear access to the windscreen and lights for cleaning. exceeding all air quality standards, thanks to the three-stage filtration system, with both internal and external filters and active carbon cleaning. As a result, driver safety and well-being are considerably enhanced. Inside, the cab has been designed and equipped to the very highest standards, considerably more luxurious than the environment provided by any other competitor application vehicle. Indeed, it has a similar specification to the cab on the latest, top-of-the-range Challenger ‘C’ Series tractors. The floating armrest offers automated functions with logical operation. All machine functions, such as the Nutrient Management System and CVT transmission, can now be operated with the newly-designed multi-functional joystick, which also acts as a drive lever. All system functions are controlled via the Falcon VT touch-screen terminal. (See separate section). The TG8333 cab is pressurised and has climate control and air-conditioning as standard, far 8 Terra-Gator 8333 All-wheel traction The Terra-Gator 8333 is the only three-wheeled application vehicle that can be fitted with the same sized tyres on all three wheels to ensure optimum weight distribution. The machine’s light footprint is a highly significant factor, as the problems caused by soil compaction are worsening in many parts of the world. automatically when travelling on roads. An automatic tyre inflation system is also available. The high capacity rear axle is fitted with doublesystem, in-board wet brakes, while the prop-shaft has a separate parking brake, operated by the Power Direction lever. An individual Rexroth hydrostatic wheel motor powers the front wheel, automatically adjusting the degree of traction required to match that being generated by the mechanically driven rear axle – all operated via the vehicle’s Falcon VT terminal. The front wheel assembly has been designed for maximum manoeuvrability, giving an incredible 75º steering angle Overall, operation of the TG 8333 is very easy to learn. Using the multi-functional joystick, the operator can vary the amount of traction needed by the front wheel. An additional tyre pressure control system further enhances the Terra-Gator’s traction and performance, by adjusting pressures to maintain optimum grip on changing surfaces and gradients. Two pre-set drive pressures can be set/reset and then be recalled by the operator to ensure the optimum traction for the conditions – lower when working on grassland, for example, higher on arable fields or when driving up slopes. The settings can be changed and re-engaged using the control joystick, with the drive being disengaged SERIOUS MACHINERY 9 Let Falcon do the work Central to the operation of the Terra-Gator 8333 is the new, easy-to-use, intuitive Falcon VT terminal, which provides variable rate control of both liquid and dry NMS (Nutrient Management Systems), together with control of chassis functions. AGCO-developed software ensures that controls and functions operate in perfect harmony. The most important system functions, such as pump rpm, the manure cutter and divider oil pressure, required application rate, speed, etc, are easily monitored by the operator with a quick glance at the screen. The levels of accuracy and flexibility it offers are not available anywhere else in the industry. The Falcon VT terminal is ISOBus-compliant and focuses on a clear, high-resolution touch-screen. However, operators also have the option of using soft keys and a rotary dial to select functions and scroll through menus. The connection with 10 the vehicle’s systems is via the CANBus network, and the terminal also has an SD-Datacard slot to enable the transfer of data, such as application maps, from the Task Controller to the farm office PC or lap-top. The system monitors the vehicle’s forward speed and automatically adjusts the flow of nutrient material being applied to match the pre-set or variable rates. It also has the ability to be programmed to run a range of functions, freeing the operator from the tedium of undertaking numerous repetitive tasks. Terra-Gator 8333 Versatile high capacity NMS systems centrifugal pump and flow bypass system, but the loading process is initiated by a Börger rotary lobe pump, as the centrifugal pump is not self-priming. Once sufficient flow of is achieved, the system switches over to the centrifugal pump and opens up a special bypass valve to allow product to flow directly into the main tank. When close to being fully loaded, the system reverts to the Börger pump to steadily fill the tank to its maximum level. The TG 8333 is equipped with a highly-durable manure cutter as an integral element of the flow system. This is a honeycombed structure housed in galvanised steel and with a flow capacity of 10,000 litres and access to it is now excellent, thanks to the provision of a hinged door. LNMS Tank capacity and the time it takes to fill it are crucial aspects of application vehicles, particularly during busy periods when time certainly means money. DNMS Unrivalled dry product application The new Terra-Gator 8333 has a robustlyconstructed 16-cubic-metre tank, now with five mounting points for even distribution of weight and increased stability. NMS dry spreaders are specifically designed for the Terra-Gator 8333 for applying solid, organic fertiliser, sludge, lime and compost. The chassismounted dry NMS box is available with one or two beaters, and the system can spread from 2.0t to 100t per hectare at widths of up to 18m – depending on the material being applied. The Liquid NMS can be fitted with a horizontal container arm, or a vertical suction arm for rapid transfer of manure into the tank. The container arm can quickly connect to fill from an auxiliary container or tanker, while the vertical arm can load from a slurry pit or container The hydraulic, adjustable dosing gate, the heavy bottom chain, the Falcon VT control system and the machine’s high forward speed combine to ensure even, consistent of all products. An electronic weighing system can be fitted to indicate spreading rate per hectare. The optional SuperLoad and CombiLoad systems can reduce filling times by half, significantly boosting the machine’s workrate. SuperLoad has a SERIOUS MACHINERY 11 AGCOMMAND Telemetry AGCOMMAND Managing and controlling operating costs is a critical area of any successful business. With the new AGCOMMAND system, you have detailed monitoring capability to establish exactly where a machine is at any given moment, how well it is performing and how efficiently the operator is working. The system can be fitted to any specialist selfpropelled sprayer or spreader, as well as tractors and combines. AGCOMMAND AGCOMMAND tells you where machines are located, identifying whether they are working and at what level of efficiency. It will also reveal where a machine has been, how many hectares it has worked, how long it’s taken and the time spent on re-filling tanks and on moving from field-to-field. The system can quickly calculate operating costs and highlight the competence levels of individual operators. It ensures service schedules are adhered to, and that all warranty conditions are satisfied. Machine settings can be monitored and faults identified, often rectifiable remotely using the new AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) AGCOMMAND Telemetry Systems are available in three specification levels, with varying degrees of precision to exactly meet the demands of your business. 12 Terra-Gator 8333 Auto-Guide steering (system) When precision application and timeliness are crucial factors, Auto-Guide automatic steering can make an enormous difference to the bottom line of spraying and spreading operations. For the operator, it means less tedium, stress and fatigue through what can often be long working days and nights and creates the time to optimise the performance of machine and implement. Auto-Guide also enables less experienced operators to achieve higher work rates and better productivity and allows work to continue efficiently in poor visibility. As far as the machine is concerned, Auto-Guide increases the field area covered every hour, simply by optimising the implement’s full working width, with higher work-rates resulting in lower fixed costs. Because Auto-Guide virtually eliminates overlaps and misses, the most noticeable difference the system makes is in the farm’s bottom line, through meaningful savings in diesel, fertiliser, sprays, time and labour.
