volunteers - Princess Anne Elementary PTA

The PAES PTA is in
need of
volunteers
for some FUN
upcoming events!
There is a URGENT need for someone to chair, or cochair, the upcoming TALENT SHOW. Without
someone to head up this annual event, it will not be
able to go forward. Several parents have said they will
help but a leader is needed. If you are willing to step
into this role, or partner with someone else to
co-chair the event, please contact the VIE Coordinator
at [email protected].
Volunteers are also needed for:
 PTA BOOK FAIR from March 9-17
Please contact [email protected].
 FIELD DAY on 4/28
Please contact [email protected].
 STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK from May 1-5

Dear Parents of PAES 5th Graders,
Can you believe we are in the 2nd half of the school year and our 5th
graders will be middle schoolers in just a few months?! We have
some fun and exciting things planned for them to celebrate the
completion of their time at PAES.
There are five 5th grade classes this year which has necessitated a
departure from the previous, formal Promotion Ceremony at Princess Anne Middle School. The auditorium at PAMS is not large
enough to adequately accommodate all of the students, their families, and other guests. After thoughtful discussions with our Principal, Mr. Wroton, we have made alternative arrangements to hold a
separate promotion ceremony for each class here in the PAES café
during the week of June 5 – 9. Each class will be assigned a day during that week to have the last lunch time slot (from 12:15 – 12:45).
The promotion ceremony will begin right after lunch. Each student
will be called up on the stage to receive their promotion certificate.
Refreshments will be served. Parents and guests are invited to
attend. The festivities will conclude around 1:30pm.
The schedule will be as follows:
Monday, June 5th – Shippy Tuesday, June 6th – Arnold
Wednesday, June 7th – Lucas Thursday, June 8th – Kroft
Friday, June 9th – Jacobson
We will be putting together a slide show for each class with pictures of each student as a Kindergartener (or as a 1 st grader) and as a 5th
grader. The slideshow will be shown during the promotion ceremony. We will be using the school pictures taken at PAES. If your child did
not attend PAES in Kindergarten or 1st grade, please email me a digital photo of your child when they were 5 or 6 years old that you would
like us to use for the slide show. Be sure to include your child’s name and teacher in the email. Send to [email protected]. Photos must be
received by May 19th to be included in the slideshow. ALL parents are asked to fill out and return the form below, giving your permission to
include your child’s first name and photos in the slideshow.
On June 15th, we will have the 5th grade party in the gym from 3 – 5pm. Parents are invited to attend. We will have a DJ, pizza, snacks and
drinks. Weather permitting, we have plans outside for an inflatable obstacle course, parents/teachers vs. kids kickball games, and the Kona
Ice truck. Parents are encouraged to make a poster for their 5 th grader celebrating their accomplishment. The posters will be hung up to
decorate the gym walls for the party. The kids love coming in to find their poster! Posters should be no larger than a standard size poster
board. More details and a permission slip to stay after school will be sent out at a later date. Parents will be responsible for transportation
home from the party.
Each family will be asked to send in funds (amount to be determined) to help cover the cost of the promotion ceremonies and end of the
year party. The amount will be in the $10 range. This request will be sent home the first part of April.
And finally, on June 16th, the last day of school, 5th graders will have the opportunity to participate in the tradition of the “Farewell Parade”
prior to dismissal. The students will get to parade around the school, walking up and down each hallway to say good bye to all of their former teachers that have contributed to fond memories of their time at Princess Anne Elementary.
We want to make sure that this is a very fun and special time for our 5 th graders. I am looking for volunteers that are interested in helping to
make that happen. Please email me if you are willing to help. Your help is needed and would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much for your cooperation. Please feel free to contact me with any questions: [email protected].
