Hello everyone! I can’t believe it is
already February 2nd. The year is
flying by! Over the last couple
weeks we have been learning
about penguins. We watched a
few videos and read some books
on these interesting animals. We
even compared the height of an
Emperor Penguin to our height. It
turns out the Kindergartens are
almost the same height!
Over the next two weeks we are
going to be doing a Valentine
Unit. Our Valentine Day’s party is
going to be taking place on Friday,
February 13th. I will be sending an
e-mail out this week about snacks
for the party.
Have a great week!
Miss Gerow
Grade 1/2…Mrs. Sansom
Well it was sunny yesterday so we assume the
groundhog saw his shadow and we are in for six
more weeks of winter.
We have started a Measurement unit in Math
where the students will be busy with lots of hands
on activities. We have wrapped up our Social
Studies unit and the class is excited to start our
new Science unit of “Growth and Changes in
Animals”. The classroom library will be filled with
fiction and non-fiction animal books for the
students to read.
February 13th is a big day in our class as we are
celebrating the 100th day of school, Valentine’s
Day as well as it being Mikayla’s 8th birthday.
Watch for more information on this day next
week in planners.
Remember library books are due on Wednesdays!
No school on Feb. 16!
Have a great two weeks!
Happy Birthday Mikayla!
Mrs. Sansom
Love the Silly Shots!!
FEBRUARY IS I
LOVE TO READ
MONTH!!
THROUGHOUT
THIS MONTH
WE ARE GOING
TO BE DOING A
LOT OF FUN
AND CREATIVE
THINGS TO
CELEBRATE!!
Reading At Home Can Make A Difference!
Family time is important. Why not take the time
to include reading during your family time? It
doesn’t take long to incorporate reading at home.
Make reading a family fun activity by…
• Reading a recipe while preparing a healthy
meal
• Reading the grocery list while shopping
• Visiting the local library
• Playing a board game
• Reading stories at bedtime
• Creating a cozy spot for reading in your
home
Grade 2/3..Mrs. Workman
Good Morning!...Happy February!! Not
sure how we got here already! February
has only 1 Monday that we are in
school. The others are inservices and
Louis Riel Day.
We will celebrate Valentine's Day on
February 13th. Please help students to
find something red or pink to wear that
day. At 2:30 we will do some in class
activities and exchange cards. We have
13 students in our class: Max, Ozy, Kai,
Ayanaquinn, Emily Gabrielle, Emily
Griffiths, Dylan, Hudson, Quentin, Zach,
Ava, Meghan, Addison. If parents would
like to send some healthy snacks in that
day feel free.
In Science, we have been having lots of
fun investigating the characteristics of
different liquids. Students have predicted
and tested the solubility of sugar in cold
H2O, hot H2O, rubbing alcohol
and vegetable oil. They have also
checked different materials ability to
absorb H2O. This week we will learn
about safety with liquids and solids.
Have a great week.

The Grade 2/3 class had a little treat last week.

fantastic job!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We
would like to thank the parents for the hot lunch last

fantastic.
