Language Arts
Reading: We have been reading
Mexican folktales, and next week
students will illustrate and write a
summary of their favorite.
Language: There was no spelling test or DOL
(Daily Oral Language) quiz this week.

informational essay about Arizona
monsoons, and it will be completed on
Monday.
Quest: Today was the last day to take
a Quest test for 2nd Quarter.
This
quarter’s top Quest readers are:
Drake ~ 215 points
Weslee ~ 200 points
Our next book share will be our
Arizona Hero-Shero presentations.
There’ll be more details next week.
Today our food drive came to
an end. Our class donated 78
cans of food for those who are
much less fortunate.
As we continued our unit on Mexico,
students learned about culture, the
Mexican flag, Spanish place names in
Mesa, Mexican folktales, and
malacates. We look forward to our
Mexican fiesta on December 20th!
Students read the ninth issue
of Arizona Studies Weekly and took
a take-home quiz. They learned
about life in the Middle Ages in
Europe and in the Maya, Inca, and
Aztec civilizations.

Students studied customary measurement of capacity/volume, weight/
mass, and length/distance before moving on to the metric system. They
remember the metric prefixes with the following sentence:
