RESPONSIBILITY Roll 692 Students Attendance 92.43% CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR 2015 PRIZE WINNERS See the full list of all certificate and cup recipients at the end of this newsletter. Dear Parents / Caregivers This is our last newsletter for 2015 and as it our last I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to our wonderful teaching staff, learning assistants, office staff and ground staff for making the school the best place it can be. Thank you to the volunteers who have helped and supported the school this past year. We have had a successful year and much of the success is as a result of a very big team effort. A special thank you to our PTA who work tirelessly in the background providing those ‘nice to have items’ for the students. Much appreciated. Thank you to our great students for their efforts throughout the year. Seeing the progress that many have made throughout the year makes the school the great place that it is. Special congratulations to all the prize giving recipients and may their successes be an inspiration for the others to follow. See a full list of recipients on page 6. FAREWELL STAFF We say farewell to several staff who will be leaving us. Thank you Mrs Pengelly, Mrs Burns and Mrs Lockwood who took over rooms 3, 6, and 17 respectively during the course of the year. It is a difficult job taking over a class during the year and for that we are truly thankful. Thank you to Mrs Kurvink for her service these past four and a half years. The students under her tuition have certainly benefitted and we wish her well at Takapuna Normal next year. Thank to our part time teachers Mrs Kimber and Ms Doscher who have helped in supporting roles at the school and have done a great job in doing so. Mrs Edwards will be retiring as a learning assistant and we would like to thank her for all the aid and assistance she has given our special needs children over the years. We wish her well in her retirement. Thank you to Mrs Leveloff who has assisted this year as a Learning assistant. We wish you well. Ms Bailey will be on study leave next year, but will be working with us on Wednesdays. We look forward to her sharing her new found expertise when she returns full time. Ms O’Connor will be taking a well deserved sabbatical during 2016 and we look forward to her return in 2017. 1
BAND NIGHT Another successful Band Night! It is always such a pleasure to see students shine and grow through opportunities to perform. We had a smaller group of musicians this year who ‘wowed’ us with covers and some of their original work. A special thank you to Mrs Dickinson who, as always, did an amazing job with the children. THANK YOU TO AWA NURSERIES Many thanks to Awa Nurseries who loaned us some of their beautiful plants to decorate our hall for our recent prize givings. Waimauku School appreciates their continued support. 2
WAIMAUKU SCHOOL CHRISTMAS FLOAT Many of you would have seen our wonderful float in the Kumeu Santa Parade this year. We were awarded the Supreme Winner and my hearty congratulations go to the following parents who came up with the great ideas and turned it all into reality. You all made us feel very proud to be associated with the school. Carolyn Robinson,
Anna Monastra, Kanchana Hoy, Lorraine Newton, Suze Kennington, Maxine Parry, Sonja Komornicki, Tania Christian, Danae Adcock, Charlene Mataio and Denise Rollinson. Extra special thanks to Andy and the Placemakers Westgate team; Kumeu Plumbing Limited; and Brent Monastra at Unitec. THANK YOU to those who donated through Fuel for Schools Programme As we wind up for 2015, I would like to mention a special thank you to:
Luke Glamuzina Contractors Ltd, Burnett Septic Tank Services, RJ & DJ Kidd, McEwan Kidd Partnership Ltd
. These local businesses have contributed towards sponsorship funds for a sports equipment or a technology package for our wonderful school. If other businesses purchase bulk fuel through Northfuels and would like to support us as well, just mention us when you buy. For every 100 litres of fuel purchased, 50c is donated to our school, which can go towards sponsorship funds, as mentioned above. For more information, please visit www.northfuels.co.nz
Many thanks for supporting Waimauku School. Funds from the Fuel for Schools Programmes enabled Waimauku School to receive a technology package consisting of a TV which will be a great addition to the science room. Brendon & Renee Burnett 3
THANK YOU TO OUR GOLF DAY SPONSORS Last Thursday saw 72 golfers take part in our first golf day at the Muriwai Golf Club, organised by our PTA. It was a huge success with $9700 being raised for our school. A special thank you to Teresa O’Connor for much of the organisation, it is all very much appreciated and hopefully we will see more of these great community days in the future. THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS
