Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2016 Mural Competition - Call for Submissions
Help Hostelling International Chicago celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2016
Twenty student artists will be selected to paint individual pieces honoring the life
and work of Dr. King and the continuing struggle for social justice today on the 2nd
floor windows of Hostelling International Chicago.
A panel of judges will evaluate the artwork and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be
awarded to the students whose works best represent the spirit of the exhibit.

2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100
All artists who are invited to participate will receive recognition at the artists’
reception held on the day after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Tuesday, January 19,
2016.
Submission Process
Students must submit a portfolio of up to 10 images of recent work along with this
submission form in person or by mail by Monday November 2, 2015. Portfolios may be submitted in person at
the hostel or electronically to Anna Henschel (see contact information below).
Artists selected to create paintings for the windows will be notified by November 20, 2015. The final paintings will
be on display on Martin Luther King Day through the end of February.
