We are a liberal religious haven, welcoming wonder, and spiritually free.
We’re sustained by a loving tradition, moved and inspired by the future we see.
Boldly seeking and working for justice,
Gently transforming lives through deeds great and small.
Young and old, sharing meaning and mission, we joyfully offer our vision to all!
Call to Worship
Opening Hymn #157 Step by Step the Longest March
Chalice Hymn
Chalice, chalice burning bright, help remind us with your light
Of how we’d like to live each day, with love and truth helping lead the way.

You bring us hope and help to see our future world that’s yet to be.
You teach us much as years go by. You are our strength, our joy, our pride.

ESPECIALLY FOR VISITORS
Welcome to First Unitarian! We hope you will stay to chat during our
coffee hour. If you would like to learn more about us, please help
yourself to the brochures on our bookshelves in the coffee area. You
can also sign up for our bi-monthly newsletter at the welcome counter where you came in.
Church membership at First Unitarian is open to those who have
been attending for a while, and who have participated in an orientation. With Rev. Maucere beginning his interim ministry and with First
Church beginning the search for a settled minister, this may be the
perfect time for you to join. Please contact [email protected] or
at 513.324.8862 for info about getting involved, or officially joining
First Church.
TODAY
Today in Sunday School, the Prekindergarten through fifth graders
will welcome back the church year by building community. They will
write cards to older members of the congregation and play on the
playground. Upstairs, the Junior High will choose their own adventure. Senior High Youth should stay for the service.
UPCOMING EVENTS

Wed., Sept 21, 7 – 8:30 p.m.– Book Discussion Group - We will
kick off the Fall season with a two-part discussion of Waking Up
White by Debby Irving. This is an excellent resource for those of us
who want to further our understanding of what it really means to grow
up and live in a racist society. The author shares and examines the discovery of her white privilege while inviting us to participate in our own
journey towards racial awareness. We urge you to pick up your own
copy of this important book and sign up at the book table if you plan to
participate. For Sept 21, consider the material presented in the first five
sections (through page155). The second (follow-up) discussion date will
be decided upon by those participating. Contact: [email protected]
Sun. Sept. 25 – This is the date for this year’s Musical Spiritual Journey service. For those of you unfamiliar with this service, about 8 or
so people or groups of people participate. Each person or group will
discuss a piece of music that has spiritual meaning for them and then
perform it. We aim for about 5-6 minutes per person or group.
While we have 5 groups already, we are looking for about three more
to join us. If you are interested or have some questions about this,
contact Nick Payne, 513.673.6159, [email protected]
Sun. Sept 25 – Annual Meeting following worship.
The Internationale
Billy Bragg version
Stand up, all victims of oppression
For the tyrants fear your might
Don't cling so hard to your possessions
For you have nothing if you have no rights
Let racist ignorance be ended
For respect makes the empires fall
Freedom is merely privilege extended
Unless enjoyed by one and all
CHORUS
So come brothers and sisters
For the struggle carries on
The Internationale
Unites the world in song
So comrades come rally
For this is the time and place
The international ideal
Unites the human race
Let no one build walls to divide us
Walls of hatred nor walls of stone
Come greet the dawn and stand beside us
We'll live together or we'll die alone
In our world poisoned by exploitation
Those who have taken, now they must give
And end the vanity of nations
We've but one Earth on which to live
CHORUS
