IMPORTANT NOTES:
•
An email will be sent to the contact person to acknowledge receipt of nomination and payment.
•
Whilst every endeavour will be made to place teams where requested there is no guarantee teams will
be allocated into this division. If this occurs contact will be made with the contact person named.
•
Teams must supply an Umpire of suitable standard for each team nominated. Umpires may be
required to umpire at the same time and grade as their team plays. However, we will use our best
endeavors to try and avoid this.
•
Teams must supply a suitable scorer to stand together mid court for the duration of the game.
•
Medallions will be awarded (9) to winners and runners up in all divisions. Further medallions can be
ordered after the event by emailing MNA and at a cost of $12 each.
•
Every endeavour will be made to have the draw and carnival rules made available on the website as
soon as possible after closing date.
•
First Aid will be provided for injuries incurred at this event only. No other injuries will be treated. Our
first aid officers are fully qualified and are to be respected. It is your choice whether to accept the
officer’s advice. ICE IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE FROM ADMINISTRATION.
•
FULL CANTEEN facilities, vendors for coffee, ice-cream and slushies available.
•
Parking is available in the designated Council Parking area.
•
Tents – designated areas will be set aside.
•
Rubbish Removal. It is the responsibility of each team to remove rubbish from their area throughout
the day and to ensure the area is left in a clean and tidy state at the end of competition. Green bags
will be provided to tent sites and wheelie bins are also located on the grounds.

CARNIVAL RULES
1.
Mackay Netball Association Inc’s Carnivals shall be played In accordance with the Official Rule Book as set down
by the All Australian Netball Association.
2.
All players within the team must be nominated on the team nomination form.
players are allowed.
3.
Teams are to nominate for the Carnival in an equivalent grade as to what they would play in their own fixture
competition.
4.
Mackay Netball Carnival Committee reserves the right to change the grade of a team based on the team’s
nomination and the available grades for the relevant Carnival.
5.
Mackay Netball Carnival Committee reserves the right to withdraw a division if minimum number of nominations
are not received for that division.
6.
All Teams must provide an umpire, Carnival nomination may be declined if an accredited umpire is not provided.
All umpires must have a current minimum level of accreditation (ie: Level 1). Is this a bid harsh??
7.
Players are permitted to play in only one team during the Carnival.
8.
Please clearly state on the nomination form if the team is a Representative Team.
9.
Any disputes are to be handled by the Mackay Netball Association Inc. Carnival Committee and or Management
Committee.

10. Protests are to be submitted in writing within one (1) hour of completion of the game in question. Where
applicable and unless stated otherwise herein, the MNA Carnival Committee will be bound by the All Australian
Netball Association Rule Book, Mackay Netball Association Inc. Constitution and/or By-Laws when handling
disputes.
11. To save any delay between games and to keep to the tight schedule as set out in the Carnival Program, Captains
are asked to toss for choice of goal end or centre pass prior to match time. Teams are to be in position on the
court ready for the Umpire to commence the game. The changeover time between games is five (5) minutes.
12. Each team must supply a responsible scorer for their game. It is recommended that scorers be 16 years & over.
Team Scorers are to sit together (mid way if possible) and score on the official score sheet only. If this does not
occur, no disputes regarding the score will be considered.

13. Score sheets for each game will be left on the boards at the courts. The score sheet shall be completed by both
teams, both umpires and scorers.
14. The winning team must return the score sheet to the Control Office immediately after each game.
15. If two (2) teams from the same Association/Club (i.e. with the same Uniform) are opposing each other in any
games, it is the responsibility of the Association/Club to provide one of its teams with a colour contrasting set of
bibs.
16. It is the responsibility of teams to supply suitably qualified Umpires for all games as set down in the Program.
Teams that do not fulfill umpiring duty will incur a fine of $30 per unfulfilled umpiring duty.
Substitute Umpires may be needed in some cases and all teams are expected to co-operate when called upon.
17. Penalty for not complying with the Rules - award game to the opposing team (no Carnival points awarded and no
goals to be recorded for infringing team) and or team withdrawn from the carnival.
18. Team Substitution and Changes shall comply with the current rules of All Australian Netball Association Rule
Book.
19. Duration of play shall be two twelve (12) minute halves with three (3) minutes at half time.
20. Any playing time lost due to stoppage of play for injury time will not be added on to the end of the game. All
games are centrally timed.
21. Mackay Netball Association has adopted a non-smoking and no alcohol policy and neither of these activities is
acceptable within the grounds of the Association. We ask that participants and supporters support the Mackay
Netball Association in our endeavour to provide a healthy environment for all and respect our juniors. Offenders
will be asked to leave the premises if in breach of this rule.
22. All participants, spectators and officials are to abide by the Associations Codes of Behaviour. Please visit our
website www.mackay.qld.netball.com for Codes of Behaviour. MNA reserves the right to withdraw a team for
repeated non-compliance.
23. There is to be no walking or movement between courts whilst play in progress. There is space around the
perimeter of the courts for movement of participants and supporters
24. There will be no refund of nomination fees if team withdraws from the Carnival.

If there is a tie on points at the conclusion of competition play, the team with the highest goal percentage
shall be the winner.

Goal average formula: ‘Goals For’ divided by X multiplied by 100 divided by the ‘Goals Against’ number of
games played.
26. Mixed Netball Teams / Mixed Netball Rules

7 Players per side on court at one time during the Match

There shall be a maximum of three (3) and a minimum of two (2) males on court per team at any one time.

The male players must play in the following positions:

one (1) Goal Shooter (GS) or Goal Attack (GA)

one (1) Centre court player either Wing Attack (WA) Centre (C) or Wing Defence (WD)

one (1) Defence player - either Goal Keeper (GK) or Goal Defence (GD)

Substitutions – as per normal rules as long as rule number 1 is abided by.
27. Pregnancy & Other Medical Conditions
Netball is a contact and collision sport, all persons participating in Netball sanctioned by MNA should seek medical
advice and understand any risk associated with playing the sport during pregnancy and or with previous
diagnosed injuries and / or conditions. Further information is available from the Australian Sports Commission
and Sports Medicine Australia and Willis Insurance (http://www.willisnetball.com/).
By nominating and participating at the MNA Carnival, players are acknowledging that the Netball Aust. Insurance

policy may not be available for injury associated with pregnancy and or previously diagnosed injuries / conditions
and you are playing at your own risk.
