Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 1 Mathematics Grade 4 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (3 points), a student will identify in no particular order the equilateral triangle (1 point) AND the rectangle (1 point) AND the rhombus (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student answers one or two parts correctly. 2 Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics Grade 5 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student places a set of coins where the nickels represent one-eighth of the entire combination of coins (1 point) AND a set of coins where the pennies represent one-fourth of the entire combination of coins (1 point) AND some dimes to define the total combination of coins. To earn partial credit, a student answers one part correctly. NOTE: To earn credit, a student must include nickel(s), pennies, and dimes in their response. Omitting dimes in the response would demonstrate that the student didn’t understand sample space and the concept that one-eighth plus one-fourth doesn’t equal one whole and, therefore, there must be some dimes to fully demonstrate knowledge of fractions. The student can use multiples of 8 as long as the proportions are correct for each type of coins. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 3 Mathematics Grade 6 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student places 3 of the 5 situations that are estimates in the correct location (1 point) AND 2 of the 5 situations that need exact answers in the correct location (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student answers only one part correctly. OR 4 places any 3 of the 5 situations in the correct location. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics Grade 7 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student draws a correctly rotated pentagon counterclockwise with vertices at N(–2,2), J(–5,2), K(–6,4), L(–4,4), M(–2,6) (1 point) AND a correctly labeled pentagon (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student draws a correctly rotated and labeled pentagon with only four correct vertices OR a pentagon rotated and labeled correctly clockwise rather than counterclockwise with vertices at N(2,–2), J(5,–2), K(6,–4), L(4,–4), M(2,–6) OR a correctly rotated pentagon without the labels. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 5 Mathematics Grade 8 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student draws a line segment with a y-intercept of $20 and extends (50,45) as requested in the problem (1 point) AND a line segment with a slope of $0.50 per text message (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student draws one correct line segment with a slope of $0.50 per text message but the y-intercept is incorrect OR a line segment with a y-intercept of $20 but the line segment extends to the left of the y-axis which doesn’t make sense within the context of the problem OR 6 a line segment starting at (0,20) but doesn’t extend to (50,45) as requested in the problem. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics Grade 8 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student places the correct identification of the median, minimum and maximum (1 point) AND the correct identification of the first and third quartiles (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student will only identify a combination of at least three correct labels. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 7 Mathematics Grade 9 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student correctly graphs a line with a slope of –2 that passes through the y-intercept of (0,3) and the x-intercept of (1.5,0) (1 point) AND a second line parallel to the given one which has a slope of –1 and passes through the y-intercept of (0,–2) (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student answers one part correctly. NOTE: To earn credit, a student must graph lines. Just plotting points that demonstrate a relationship will not earn credit. 8 Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics Grade 9 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), a student draws a line segment with a y-intercept greater than $150 (1 point) AND a slope less than $5 per guest but greater than or equal to $0. For example, the line segment could pass through (0,250) and (40,350) which indicates a slope of $2.50 per guest and an initial fee of $250 (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student will draw one correct line segment with a slope of less than 5 per guest but the y-intercept is incorrect OR a correct line segment with a slope less than $5 per guest that extends to the left of the y-axis and therefore contains negative number of guests. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 9 Mathematics Grade 10 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (4 points), a student draws triangle R'S'T' correctly with vertices at R'(–7,2), S'(–5,5), and T'(–2,1) (1 point) AND triangle R'S'T' correctly labeled (1 point) AND triangle R"S"T" correctly drawn with vertices at R"(–7,–2), S"(–5,–5), and T"(–2,–1) based on triangle R'S'T' (1 point) AND 10 triangle R"S"T" correctly labeled based on the labeling of R'S'T' (1 point). Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 To earn partial credit, a student will draw a triangle with two of the three correct vertices labeled for each of the two triangles but there is a consistency between the two transformations (2 points) OR the first triangle R'S'T' correctly with vertices at R'(–7,2), S'(–5,5), and T'(–2,1) but the student reflected the triangle across the wrong y-axis with incorrect vertices of R"(7,2), S"(5,5), and T"(2,1) (2 points) OR any of the four requirements for full credit. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 11 Mathematics Grade 10 Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (3 points), a student graphs One correct line for Tera that passes through (0,–100) and (5,650) (1 point) AND A second correct line for Wendy that passes through (0,50) and (5,550) (1 point) AND a correct identification of the point of intersection (3,350) for the system of equations graphed (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student identifies the correct solution to the system of equations as (3,350) without graphing the system of equations (1 point) OR 12 Graph the correct systems of equations but doesn’t indicate the point of intersection as the same amount of money for both girls (2 points). Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics EOC Algebra I and Integrated Math I Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (3 points), a student draws a correct graph of Jane’s distance from the park represented by the equation y = 5000 – 1000x (1 point) AND a correct graph of Kim’s distance from the park represented by the equation y = 2000 – 250x (1 point) AND identifies the correct difference in the amount of time, 3 minutes, it takes to get to the park based on the graph or on the information given (1 point). To earn partial credit, a student determines a reasonable difference in minutes based on incorrect graphs (1 point) OR draws two lines with correct slopes of 1000 for Tera and 250 for Kim but the x- and y-intercepts are incorrect (1 point) OR answers one or two parts correctly (1 point). Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 13 Mathematics EOC Algebra II and Integrated Math III Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), the student creates the correct expression for the volume of the prism, 3n² + 6n (1 point) AND the correct expression for the area of the shaded face, n² + 2n (1 point). The graph should be an absolute function opening downward with a maximum at (0, 3) and endpoints at (–2, 0) and (4, –3). There is no partial credit for this item. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 15 Mathematics EOC Algebra II and Integrated Math III Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), the student creates a set of marbles that satisfies the first condition, that the probability of selecting a striped marble is 1 , 4 given that the marble is red AND a set of marbles that satisfies the second condition, that the probability of selecting a red marble is 2 , 3 given that the marble is striped. Exemplar two striped red marbles, one blue striped marble, and 6 red solid marbles (2 points) Other Correct Responses: any combination of marbles where one-fourth of the red marbles are striped and two-thirds of the striped marbles are red To earn partial credit (1 point), the student creates 16 a set of marbles that satisfies one of the two conditions. Mathematics Scoring Rubrics for DCAS Practice Tests | 2012 Mathematics EOC Algebra II and Integrated Math III Scoring Rubric To earn full credit (2 points), the student provides a correct factorization of the expression (1 point) AND the correct solutions to the equation (1 point). To earn partial credit (1 point), the student provides a correct factorization of the expression OR the correct solutions to the equation OR correct solutions based on an incorrect factorization. NOTE: Do not factor out the common “3” to answer part A. If the students factor “3” in the first step, then they must rewrite their work to fit the format of the problem and therefore show equivalent expressions.
