Elizabeth Riders Committee
The Elizabeth Riders Committee is made up of young people between the ages of 12-20 years who have a passion for
everything associated with skate parks.
The committee has now been running for 5 years and are supported by the City of Playford and Anglicare SA
Workshops: Scooter, Skateboard, BMX, Scooter Maintenance and Skate Park Demonstrations.
Presentations: “Involving young people in recreational planning” and “How to create change in your
community”
Young people in the Elizabeth Riders Committee have:







Run six massive skate competitions for over 2000 young people.
Run workshops to over 360 young people.
Given feedback to local Councils regarding the building and maintenance of their skate
parks.
Judged Skate competitions.
Have completed a Senior First Aid course.
Have been trained in public speaking and facilitation.
Bring a fresh, fun approach and show other young people how to be leaders.
Insurance
All workshop leaders are covered by our insurance. Waivers will be supplied for all workshop
participants who need to be covered by the Skate Parks insurance.
What you need to supply for workshops
2 trestle tables and 5 chairs, Sun shelter if possible, Water and sunscreen for participants, Take all
local bookings for workshops (including City of Playford/Anglicare SA photo consent forms).
We have limited spare helmets that can be booked free of charge if needed
Workshops costs $500 per session and packages can be arranged with discount.

Scooter Workshops
A 1 hour workshop for up to 15 young people suitable for young people aged between 8 to 15 years and will
cater for all different skill levels. Young people involved need to supply their own Scooter and Helmet. Learn
how to Tail whip, 180’s, 360’s, Bar spins, Bri flips, Bunny hops and much more.
BMX Workshops
A 1 hour workshop for up to 15 young people suitable for young people aged 12 to 18 with step by step trick
break down. Young people involved need to supply their own BMX and Helmet. Learn how to drop in, Tyre
Taps, Tyre Grabs, Double Peg, Bunny Hop and much more. For more advanced BMX riders, we will be teaching
Fakies, Feebles the Foot Jam.
Skateboard Workshops
A 1 hour workshop for up to 15 young people which is suitable for young people aged 8 to 15 and will give
participants the opportunity to improve on their skills. Learn Ollies, nollies, dropping in, stance, solso feble,
kick flip and much more
Scooter maintenance workshop
A 1 hour workshop suitable for young people aged between 8 to 15 years and will cater for all different skill
levels. Young people bring their own Scooters to learn to fix them.
Skate Park Demonstrations
30 minute interval demonstrations of massive stunts on BMX, Scooter and Skateboard. The Elizabeth Riders
Committee will MC the event and explain the tricks, equipment used and ERC team.
“Involving young people in recreational planning” seminar
This is a 1 hour presentation that can be run for Council staff, community organisations and youth groups. The
seminar will cover: getting young people to be the drivers of change in their communities, How youth
committees can give effective recreational site feedback, Events and workshops run by young people, How to
engage young people to deliver a health promotion message. Panel of young people and youth workers to ask
questions to at the end of the seminar.
“How to create change in your community” Seminar
This is a 1 hour presentation that can be run for students at schools and youth groups. The seminar will cover:
Getting young people to be the drivers of change in their community, ERC and how it works, Tips and
resources that you need to make youth recreational committees work, How to get started, Finding young
people that are passionate about the sport they practice, Building relationships with local young people,
Provide training and reward systems for young people to build their skills, Not just talk but actively listen and
support the young people to take action
