2017 AUCTION RULES AND REGULATIONS










All bids must be in Canadian dollars (United States and overseas bidders please consult
exchange rates).
Items are in good condition unless otherwise stated.
Bids accepted by e-mail and letter mail, not by telephone.
For identical bids, first one received takes priority.
This is a low-tech auction, as some members of the society do not have e-mail access.
We are unable to notify bidders about competing bids or to advise on expected final prices.
Reserve prices indicate minimum acceptable bids.
Closing date for bids is Monday, May 1, at 11:59 p.m.
Successful bidders will be notified by e-mail before May 15.
While we endeavour for good descriptions, TMHS and the auctioneer cannot be held liable for
errors and omissions. With any discovered discrepancy, we may withdraw the item.
Options for obtaining the items: (1) Collect from Bill Moran in Whitby. (2) Collect at the society's Annual
Luncheon on Sunday, May 28. (3) Have item mailed at buyer's expense by Canada Post. Flat items up to
500 grams go by letter mail (some exceptions). Over 500 grams (1 lb. 2 oz.), rates are calculated on the
weight and dimensions of the package and distance to destination. Postage rates from L1N 8J7 (my
Postal Code in Whitby) to destination can be found at www.canadapost.ca. US bidders – please contact

weak and separating from the rope. There are some minor stains but the flag is generally intact. From New

Souvenir Lake Superior Canada. A 3 ½ x 5 ½ small folio of postcards (5) of Soo Locks, Hamonic,
Huronic, Noronic and a view of a rocky part of Lake Superior shoreline. Looks like first pc has been
removed, else near fine condition.

Souvenir – a small 5” diameter hand painted life ring depicting the CAYUGA by noted Nanaimo BC artist
Jack Hardcastle. There were sold in the 40s and 50s and are sought after (see photos on the TMHS

pass, report of damage caused by dock machinery, purchase requisition in triplicate, letterhead, personnel

This year we are happy to present for sale several ship logs that have been donated to the auction. All are in clean
condition, and major defects are noted. Reserve price on all log books is $25

M/V ROGER BLOUGH – engine room long from part of 2007-08 seasons. Oversized red logbook. In good
condition.

Str. SYLVANIA – engine room log from 1972 season, and part of 1973. Oversized black leather log book.
Interesting corrections by chief in red. Good condition.
Remainder are logs from Upper Lakes Shipping vessels. All are blue cloth navigational logs that measure 8 ½ x 11.

dry mounted two to a page for larger photos, or four to a page for smaller photos. On 3-hole stiff cardboard pages.
With care, photos can be removed from their cardboard backing by working inward from a corner. Photos range in
size from 4 to 4 ½” in height, 7 to 7 ½” wide.

Toronto Marine Historical Society. Monthly news bulletin The Scanner. Each issue has about 12 to 16 pages
measuring 11 x 8½ inches and including a photo page occasionally with one side of photos but more often with two
sides of photos. Principal article in each issue is a comprehensive and well researched Ship of the Month, always
with photos. Issues also have other articles, news items, winter lay-up listings, etc. Some of the older issues show
signs of wear on front page but all pages are present and intact. Volumes begin with an October issue and end with a
mid-summer or summer issue. Some volumes contain a complete nine issues, some from later years contain a
complete eight issues. Not all volumes listed below are complete.
