receiving the advertising money which funds printing
costs. The Shire of Dardanup has given us an annual
grant of $1000 to assist with the purchase of paper. Well
done to all involved in the production of the Dardanup
Times – a very valuable and professional looking
newspaper. We value the regular news supplied by
Maureen Ward (Dardanup Seniors), The Dardanup Shire
Council, The Boyanup Farmers Market, Phil Ottrey
( Dardanup Lions Club),Dr Liz Suter, Erika Mc Manus,
Dept of Agriculture and the 2 primary schools.
Special thank you to Terry Eaton for distributing the
Dardanup Times through the Post Office and to Les and
Suzie Bekker distributing the Times at the General Store
on our behalf.
Australia Day in Dardanup saw the Dardanup Lions Club
and the Residents Assoc Committee join in coordinating
the 11th Australia Day Breakfast. This was very
successful and we look forward to again assisting the
Dardanup Lions with this project.
Maureen and I have been on a community committee
reviewing the Shire Municipal Inventory. Our input has
been well received and our work here will come to an
end shortly, however we are keen to further explore the
conservation of Dardanup’s history.
We have reviewed the Dardanup Telephone directory
which will be shortly delivered to the printers and we are
working on a Welcome to Dardanup Pack which will be
provided to new residents as soon as the Telephone
Directory is completed.
The development of seniors housing on Lot 56 Mitchell
Way is progressing with Access Housing being
successful in acquiring Royalties funding. Further
meetings are scheduled.
Dot Tyrrell our Treasurer has done an excellent job in
keeping our financial side in good order. Well done Dot.
Cathy Miller, Maxine Bourne, Maureen Ward, Mary
Smith, Jenny Trigwell and Sue Gilbert continue to
support the Association and offer invaluable advice at
meetings and via emails.
This year our small Committee has continued to organise
activities that have become an important part of
community life in Dardanup, such as the Dardanup
Times, the Anzac Day Service, the First Aid Course and
the Australia Day Breakfast and Xmas Carols organised
in conjunction with the Dardanup Lions Club as well as
liaising with Council on issues of importance to this
community.
Mary Smith initiated our 11th Clean Up Dardanup Day
on the long weekend in March. Rural residents of
Ferguson Rd and Crooked Brook Rd collected rubbish
from outside their properties. The Dardanup Shire
assisted by collecting all the rubbish bags. Our
Association will organise this important event again next
year with Mary’s assistance.
Our annual Anzac Day Service organised by the
Committee was a special event this year,
commemorating the 100th year of ANZAC. The
ceremony was marked by our local young people
conducting the service and a letter from a Harris family
member at Gallipoli read by Gwen Wells. We hired a
P.A. which improved the service for the large crowd
attending. The morning tea, importantly, always provides
a chance for friends to catch up. Once again the
Dardanup Lions Club again provided a sausage sizzle
which was enjoyed by all.
Our Assoc. supplied a letter of support for a grant
applications for the Bull and Barrel Festival which we
are delighted to assist with and our Assoc. again funded
the Art Spectacular.
Sue Bottomley again organised the Senior 1st Aid Course
held at OLOL Primary School for 18 people.
The Dardanup Times distributed monthly for 16 years
has been for the last 12 months produced in house using
our photocopier housed at the Shire office. The Dardanup
Bull and Barrel Festival and Dardanup Arts Spectacular
used it for all their photocopying needs which saved their
volunteers time and money. Seven other community

Lions News
Four Lions were active at the recent multi-sport day,
AKA Bunbury Special Olympics.
Dale’s morning coffee catch up
Hackersley owners Adrie and Aaron sat with me for a quick
chat this week.
This couple have had Hackersley since 2002 and they have
made it what it is – a hideaway European style restaurant.
There is restaurant seating for up to 60 and functions can seat
up to 90. The view out over the deck is of rolling green hills,
grazing cattle and water – the large dam provides a very
relaxing atmosphere; one you can easily get lost in.
Aaron describes his menu as classic with a twist. The dishes
are presented in degustation style and is an experience you
should treat yourself to at least once. Proud winners of a Gold
Plate award last year for best regional restaurant within a
winery, the couple continue to mix it up with menu changes
every six weeks to allow for seasonal produce to be utilised.
The property is 110 acres of land and has 35 acres of vines –
several varieties including Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc,
Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. There is a
small R & D patch of Petit Verdot and Mondeuse that are
expected to produce this year. The Hackersley wines are
produced by Ferguson Valley favourite Willow Bridge. You
can taste at the cellar door and stay for lunch or afternoon tea.

Joshua Crooked Brook Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade
news. December 2015
Our new Fire Brigade Station was officially opened by
Mick Murray, MLA Collie-Preston, on Friday 6th
November. A gathering of 44 people heard Shire
President Mick Bennett, CBFCO Chris Hynes and DFES
Deputy Commissioner Lloyd Bailey AFSM speak before
our MLA unveiled the plaque. Following the formalities
FCO Lynton Gillies invited all present to inspect the
Station and the morning tea. The Station was left intact
but the home cooked food was just about completely
demolished. The brigade’s new honour board was on
display with past and present FCOs listed; Des Houden,
Cecil Mountford, Trevor Houden, Bill Kessell and
Lynton Gillies. Station completion supporters; the Shire
of Dardanup, Tom Cross, Rackman and Townsend Paints
were also listed. Sue Rigg and Peter Buck’s property
mapping project was on display and created quite a lot of
interest from DFES, the Shire and our CBFCO. By about
eleven o’clock the numbers were thinning with the
departure of the cattle truck, the load of hay and others as
people resumed their normal Friday morning activities.
The Brigade would like to thank all who took the time to
attend our important occasion.
Reminder: Community Sundowner every 4th Friday,

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS FOR DETOX SUPPORT
Dec 15/Jan 16
What’s involved in Detox?
The Practitioner Only Detox Program incorporates key nutritional
formulas, based on scientific research, to lay the foundation for
effective detoxification. These formulas focus on supporting the
three main channels of elimination: the liver, kidneys and optimal
digestion.
The following ingredients can help promote your detoxification
abilities:
Milk thistle, green tea and gardenia: Stimulate the liver,
enhancing the elimination of toxins.
Dandelion, ginger and meadowsweet: These nutrients regulate
healthy digestion by increasing digestive juices and enzymes.
Glutamine and zinc: Nutrients to protect and heal the gut.
A Detox Program is tailored to your individual health needs.
Therapeutic detox options include an Integrated Detoxification, or a
Specialised Gut, Liver or Heavy Metal Chelation Program for more

Is It Time to Detox?
Detox. It’s a term you’ve no doubt heard a lot of on TV, in
magazines or in the gym. But why should you ‘detox’?
Detoxification is your body’s natural process of changing dietary and
environmental toxins into less harmful substances before eliminating
them from your body.
Diet and Lifestyle
Modern diets can be a major source of ongoing toxin exposure due to
the intake of caffeine, alcohol and refined processed foods, which
typically contain artificial additives, preservatives and toxic fats. Not
only do these add to your toxin burden but put unnecessary pressure
on your organs of detoxification.
Supporting natural detoxification processes can help improve
digestive function and may facilitate healthy weight loss, however
the benefits do not stop there as healthy detoxification pathways may By minimising certain foods, whilst increasing your intake of plantalso lead to a reduction in other seemingly unrelated symptoms.

formulas and boost your detox capacity.
Toxins in Daily Life
The term ‘toxin’ refers to any substance with the potential to
interfere with normal cellular function and which may negatively
impact both your short and long-term health.
What can I do?

South West Montessori
South West Montessori (situated in the old Dardanup kindy)
have some places still available for 2016. We run parent with
children sessions from birth up. Sessions run from 9.30 am 12.30 pm on Mondays and/or Fridays.
We are in the process of setting up an Autistic program for term
one of next year, giving free piano lessons to children with
Autism as this has been proven to have a major effect on brain
development. This tuition will be provided by volunteers as we
believe families of children with special needs already have
added financial commitments. We are currently looking for
piano teachers that would volunteer two hours of their time
every second Saturday during school terms. We're also looking
for anyone which may have a piano that they no longer use or
wish to donate to a worthy cause. It has to be a free standing
wooden piano.

Montessori rooms, please email Lorraine at;

Preheat oven to 160. Place flour, baking powder and
sugar in a bowl and mix. Add the eggs, vanilla, orange

smooth dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a wellfloured surface and knead until smooth. Divide the
dough into 2 equal portions and roll each portion into
a 20 cm log. Flatten slightly and place on tray lined
with baking paper. Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until
firm. Set aside to cool completely. Use a serrated
knife to cut the logs into 3mm thick slices and place
the slices on baking trays lined with baking paper.
