Joining Taylor’s CAMPUS Domain
Before You Start: You must know the Local Administrator password of the computer. Information Technology
manages Taylor-owned, Windows-based computers and joins computers to Taylor’s domain during the build
process. If you have questions about a Taylor-owned, Windows-based computer, contact 4040. Mac
instructions are found below.
Join a Windows 7 PC to the CAMPUS Domain:




Right-click Computer (accessible through the
START menu) and select Properties.
Click Change Settings
You must have access to a Taylor username and
password that has permissions to join a
computer to the CAMPUS domain. If in doubt,
contact 4040.
Click Change

Select Domain
Type campus.tayloru.edu
Click OK
o You should be prompted to enter a username and
password. This account MUST have permissions to join
computers to the Taylor domain. If in doubt, contact
4040.
Restart the computer to apply the change
Join a Windows 10 PC to the CAMPUS Domain:

Right-click This PC > Properties


Click Change Settings
You must have access to a Taylor
username and password that has
permissions to join a computer to the
CAMPUS domain. If in doubt, contact
4040.

Click Change



Select Domain
Type campus.tayoru.edu
Click OK
o You should be prompted to enter a username and
password. This account MUST have permissions to join
computers to the Taylor domain. If in doubt, contact
4040.
Restart the computer to apply the change

Note about Documents: The first time you log onto the CAMPUS domain, Windows
will create a new, default user profile that matches the network username
(preferredname_lastname). If you have documents in your old profile, these will
need to be moved to this new profile. Contact 4040 with questions.
Join iOS to the CAMPUS Domain


Open System Preferences
Click Open Accounts

Open Login Options

Click Network Account Server: Join

Enter Server: campus.tayloru.edu
 Enter Active Directory Settings
o Client Computer ID = computer-name of
your choice
o AD Admin User = username provided to you
by Client Services
o AD Admin Password = password provided
to you by Client Services

When prompted, enter your local computer
username and password

You were successful if you see a Green Dot
beside campus.tayloru.edu beside Network
Account Server.
Browsing the network
Once you have joined your Mac to the Campus Domain, you will be able to search for network shares
and network print queues by name rather than mapping by IP address.


CMD+k in Finder -> smb://acadnas1/AcadPNF/username
CMD+k in Finder -> smb://filesrv1/sharename - Can search and automatically authenticate if Mac
Bound to Campus Domain
If you are logged into your Mac with a local account, you will have to authenticate to each network file
and print share with campus\username. If you are logged into your Mac with a campus username, then
you can automatically map to network file and print shares you have rights to without authenticating
again.
