The Book of Ruth
Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV)
1 Now
the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your
country and your kindred and your father's
house to the land that I will show you.
2 And I will make of you a great nation,
and I will bless you and make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who
dishonors you I will curse,
and in you all the families of the earth shall be
blessed.”

Titus 3:3-7(ESV)
3 For
we ourselves were once foolish,
disobedient, led astray, slaves to various
passions and pleasures, passing our days in
malice and envy, hated by others and hating
one another.
4 But when the goodness and loving kindness
of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us,

not because of works done by us in
righteousness, but according to his own
mercy, by the washing of regeneration
and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom he poured out on us richly through
Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that being justified by his grace we might
become heirs according to the hope of eternal
life.

Ruth 1:1-2
1 In
the days when the judges ruled there was a
famine in the land, and a man of Bethlehem in
Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he
and his wife and his two sons. 2 The name of the
man was Elimelech and the name of his wife
Naomi… They were Ephrathites. They went into
the country of Moab and remained there.

3 But
Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, died, and
she was left with her two sons. 4 These took
Moabite wives; the name of the one was Orpah
and the name of the other Ruth. They lived there
about ten years, 5 and both Mahlon and Chilion
died, so that the woman was left without her two
sons and her husband.

when they came to Bethlehem, the whole town
was stirred because of them. And the women said, “Is
this Naomi?” 20 She said to them, “Do not call me
Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very
bitterly with me. 21 I went away full, and the LORD has
brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi, when
the LORD has testified against me and the Almighty has
brought calamity upon me?”
