Discover how a blend of Eastern and Western relaxation
techniques can help stress, pain and anxiety. Massage
therapist Maurizio Lodato will lead focussed relaxation,
gentle mindful stretching and self-acupressure massage, all designed to generate a feeling of wellbeing.

With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy and martial
arts, Chi Kung (or Qigong) is a practice aligning body,
breath and mind for health and meditation. Please wear
loose, comfortable clothing. Led by Belinda Ackermann.
22nd April – Social Intelligence
Social Intelligence is an ability that helps us understand
the people around us and manage our relationships with
them effectively. Reza Zolfagharifard will discuss the
key factors which affect our social intelligence and the
ways we can develop this useful ability.
6th May – Mindfulness and Compassion
Roman
Led by experienced mindfulness meditation coach
and Stuart Low Trust Friday Evening Event host Katy
Connell, this informal workshop will explore how practising mindfulness and compassion with ourselves and
others can help bring us more peace and contentment.

you! Experienced dance tutor Mark-Anthony Esau will

Reza Zolfagharifard returns to discuss the ways in which
we can communicate effectively with people of different
backgrounds and build diverse networks to help us to
live a better life.

prostate and lung cancers. Over 41,000 people are diagnosed with bowel
cancer every year in the UK. Presented by Jayne Sutton of Bowel Cancer

An Exploration of Hearing Loss

Meet Jean Straus, retired eavesdropper. Blighted at the youthful age of 62
into a world of hearing loss, Jean recounts her experiences with this highly
unglamorous disability. You can’t see it, to cure it is only a dream, and you
miss almost every other punch line! Jean will talk about the charity Action on
Hearing Loss as well as the myths, realities and consequences of hearing
loss.

Emily Graham from the British Institute of Human Rights will be talking about
how the Human Rights Act is relevant for mental health and mental capacity
services and sharing some real life examples from a recent project.

next to the Bank of England to upgrade the tube service. With a new ban on
almost all road vehicles at Bank this presentation could not be more timely!

Islington Boat Club — on and off the water — including the UpperDeckers
programme for over 50s and the All On Board project for people of all ages
with disabilities, including those with special needs and mental health issues.

Emirates Stadium Outing
The Emirates Stadium is the third-largest football
stadium in England and has been the home of
Arsenal Football Club since 2006. This guided
tour of the stadium includes a visit to the Arsenal
Museum. Places are limited and we expect this
trip to fill up quickly. Meeting place and further
details will be provided upon booking.

Philosophy Forum
Our friendly philosophy group meets Sundays
from 4.00 to 6.15 pm in Archway, N19. Get in

Singing Group
SLT’s choir meets 6.00 to 7.30pm on Tuesday
evenings in Archway, N19. First session free,
then voluntary donation of £2 per session. All

Narrowboat Trip
A relaxing day out on Regent’s Canal. Lunch and
refreshments included. This trip is offered in
partnership with Islington Adult & Community
Learning Service and is for Islington residents on
a low income.
