Preparation:
Unifix Cubes Pattern Cards
Print the cards and cut each of the pattern cards apart as shown in the picture, so that
each child gets one strip at a time. Laminate the strips for durability.
Directions:
1. Give each child one pattern card strip and some cubes. Have him or her copy the pattern card to get
the pattern started with the unifix cubes and see if he or she can identify the pattern. (Example: “I
make an AB pattern.”) Then see if he or she can continue the pattern up to the end of the strip and beyond.
2. The next step is to have the child make the same pattern with different colored cubes.
3. The final step is to have the child make his or her own original pattern with different colored cubes,
and identify the pattern with letters. Example, “I made an ABC pattern,” etc.
