State Senator Rick Gudex Announces He Will Not Seek Re-election
Madison- Today, State Senator Rick Gudex (R-Fond du Lac) announced that he will not be
seeking re-election to the 18th State Senate District. Senator Gudex was elected to the Senate
in November, 2012 and elected as Senate President Pro-Tempore earlier this year. He serves as
Chairman of the Senate Economic Development & Commerce Committee and is a board
member of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and a member of The Wisconsin
Small Business Advisory Center Network Advisory Board.
Senator Gudex was the author of Wisconsin Fast Forward, legislation that helps address the
state's need for skilled workers. The program created worker training grants and makes other
investments to prepare workers for jobs available today and in the years to come. This past
budget, additional funding was made available to continue the program. In addition, Senator
Gudex fought hard to preserve the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit, a credit that is responsible
for almost a half a billion dollars in private investments in our aging buildings around the state,
helping to preserve our history and spurring economic investment.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to be able to serve the citizens of the 18th district. I have
greatly enjoyed the role of serving as your State Senator. I am proud of the many major
accomplishments that this legislative body and I have realized. It has been great working with
various groups of individuals, building relationships, and addressing their needs and concerns. I
am confident that the decisions made during my term in office have and will continue to keep
the great State of Wisconsin moving forward. As you may know, I had spent 26 years of my
career in manufacturing management. I haven’t lost my love for manufacturing and will be
returning to the private sector. I fully intend on completing my full term and duties as your
state senator; serving the needs of this district. I want to thank everyone who has supported
me during this term in office. It has made the experience all the better,” said Senator Rick
Gudex.
This will be the only statement Sen. Gudex will make on his decision not seeking re-election at this time.
