The verb estar - District 196 e

Nombre: __________________________ Hora: ____ Fecha: ________
You learned in Unidad 1-1 the verb “SER” means “to be”. We used that verb in the past to
describe things such as people and classes. Now, you are going to learn another verb that also
means “to be”, but it is used for very different reasons. In this chapter you are going to use
“ESTAR” (to be) to describe where something or someone is located and to describe how
someone is feeling. You will also notice that the verb is an “-ar” verb but the major difference
is that there are accent marks in a lot of the forms and the “yo” form does not end in “o”.
