‘Community’s Got Talent’ – Show Information and Regulations-ONSTAGE
Registration: www.communitychristian.org/talentshow. Paper applications will not be accepted.
Registration Deadline: August 21st (Only 60 on-stage applications will be accepted based on date of registration. The total amount of entries
will be based on 20 on-stage acts per division. There will be no limit on Gallery applications. Applications received after August 21st will not be
accepted.
Audition dates and times: August 24th from 6p.m.-8p.m Check in at 5:30p.m
August 28th from 12:30p.m.-2:30p.m. Check in at 12:00p.m.
Check in for auditions and performance finals: Participants must check in on time the day of the auditions and on the day of the finals.
Failure to check in on time for either audition or finals may result in cancellation of your performance
Location: 901 Shorewood Drive, Shorewood, Il 60404
Who may enter: Students in 3rd grade-12th grade. Students may be in a maximum of 2 acts and enter a maximum of 2 gallery items.
Divisions: There are three divisions for talent judgment based on age group. Division 1: Grades 3-5, Division 2: Grades 6-8, Division 3: Grades
9-12.
Type of talent accepted: All acts must be safe and appropriate (family friendly). All talent is encouraged to enter. Onstage talent includes:
singing, dancing, comedy, musical instruments, poetry, theatre, etc. Gallery Show includes: art, photography, sculpture, ceramics, art media, etc.
Explicit music, stunts, explicit language, lip syncing and pyrotechnics are prohibited. Performer’s costumes must be tasteful and appropriate for
the desired act to be performed. No two piece costumes will be allowed.
Number of participants per act: An act is allowed a maximum of 10 people. If the act has different ages involved please average the age and
place them in the appropriate division.
Props: Contestants are responsible for their own props, music, and special equipment. Audio equipment, microphones, drums, and a keyboard
will be provided by the church. Recorded music on a labeled CD must be provided the date of the audition. CDs must be labeled with the
appropriate track number and song title. The technical crew will keep the CD if your act is chosen for the finals. All music will be returned and
available for pick up on Oct 2nd. Stage dimensions are 30 x 40 but please keep in mind that musical equipment on the stage and will not be
moved.
Theme and Time limit: All acts must incorporate the theme of LOVE in some way. This can be in the form of a word or depiction. Have
fun and be creative!! Acts will be allowed a maximum of 4 minutes to perform their selected act. Those who exceed this limit will be disqualified.
Process and scoring: All acts will audition in front of the talent show committee. If chosen, they will then proceed to the finals where the act
will perform in front of a panel of “celebrity” judges as well as a “live audience.” The act with the highest “text vote” in each division will be
named the winner and will perform their act on October 2nd during both the 9:30 and 11:00 services.
Performance dates and times:
Sept 11 at 12:30 Division 1, Sept 18 at 12:30 Division 2, and Sept 25 at 12:30 Division 3 Check in for all dates is 11:45a.m.
Winners will perform on October 2nd 2011 during the 9:30 and 11:00 service. You will need to arrive 8:00a.m.
There will be ONE winner in each division.
Right to cancel: Performers who do not comply with the rules and regulations will be disqualified.
Updates: All updates regarding the talent show will be posted on our website. Please go to www.communitychristian.org/talentshow for all
information pertaining to the talent show. All results and information and performance dates for the finals will be posted on the website only.
Release Waiver: The release waiver on the bottom of the registration form must be completed before you can audition. All participants must
have a release waiver signed, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Thank you for registering. Parking is available. Please bring all props or equipment with you on the day of your auditions as well as the day of
finals (if applicable). There will be no “dressing rooms” so please arrive prepared and ready to go!
