For years Shawnee Branch has been a site for teens to wait for rides, taking a new approach to this staff started a new program modelled after HOMAGO (Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out). Mondays-Wednesdays they have scheduled the meeting room, loaded half the tables with the laptop lab, and wheeled in the 3-D printer. Scott Mertz, who is the mastermind behind this initiative, is with the teens to help teach computer code with SCRATCH or 3-D design. Kayleen interviews community members about what it was like to live through WWII. Ms. Ferverda gave board members an update of events happening within the library system highlighting that John Lennon’s sister recently made an unexpected author visit at Main Library, the October 2nd Rotary Clock dedication was very successful, and ACPL once again partnered with Downtown Fort Wayne for Fright Night activities and participated in the annual Zombie Walk. The annual Author Fair will be held Saturday, November 14 in the Great Hall.
