Allen’s Landing, mile 2.5 Often
described as “Houston’s Plymouth
Rock,” it was here in 1836 that August
Chapman and John Kirby Allen stepped
ashore and claimed Houston as their own.

JP Morgan Chase Tower, mile 2.77
Look up! That’s the JP Morgan Chase
Tower, the tallest building in Texas! Built in
1982, it’s the 17th tallest building in the U.S.

“Houston is Inspired” Mural, mile 2.77
This mural was created by Gonzo247,
artist and founder of Houston’s Aerosol
Warfare Studio, commissioned by the
Greater Houston Convention and Visitors
Bureau and the Houston Arts Alliance.

Minute Maid Park & Union Station,
mile 3.39 Home to the Houston
Astros, Minute Maid Park is known for the
train that moves along a track above the
field when the Astros hit a home run or
win a game. The railway pays homage to
historic Union Station.

A popular Houston Snapchat geofilter

Chapel is non-denominational and a major
work of modern art. In 2000, it was placed
on the National Register of Historic Places.
Toyota Center, mile 5 The Toyota
Center is home to the NBA’s Houston
Rockets (and our first Water Stop!).
Although the Rockets are the main event,
the arena’s first event was actually a
Fleetwood Mac concert!
Baylor College of Medicine, mile 11.12
BCM is again our medical sponsor
for the Houston Walk. Their mission
is to provide exceptional patient care,
outstanding education for students,
and innovative research into the causes,
prevention and treatment of cancer, and
community outreach and education,
especially to the undeserved.

Art Blocks at Main Street Square,
mile 5.6 This new temporary public
art initiative enlivens Main Street Square.
The inaugural project includes a series of
site-specific installations by internationally
lauded artists and designers, some making
their Houston debut.

Biscuit Paint Wall, mile 8.32 A popular
selfie spot, the Biscuit Paint Wall was
painted by Houston-based artist Sebastien
“Mr. D” Boileau of Eyeful Design. It debuted
in Montrose in 2014 when the store owners
of Biscuit Home wanted something fun and
reflective of their personality.

Rothko Chapel, mile 8.78 Founded by
John and Dominique de Menil, the Rothko

Lunch Stop, mile 13.44 Enjoy lunch at
the beautiful campus of River Oaks
Baptist School and take some time to
stretch before you hit the ground walking.
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park,
mile 15.67 The 2.77-acre park features
a 64 ft. fountain that re-circulates 11,000
gals. of water per min. as it cascades down
its inner and outer walls. Surrounded by
186 oak trees, the park is opposite the south
face of Williams Tower, which at the time of
construction was the world’s tallest building
not located in a central business district.

cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed
in 2017, and that 2,830 people will
die from the disease. Nationwide, the
numbers are more staggering—255,180
new breast cancer diagnoses and
41,070 deaths in 2017.
