the Federal Govemment may by law c~nstituie as ·many Special Courts as it
rqay oonsider necessary.
(2) Where the Federal Government constitute~ more than one Special
CoUit, it shall dete;;rune.the territoriai limits within which each one of them
shall exercise jurisdiction.

(3) ASpecial Court shall consisl of a Judge, being a pcrSoll wbo is, or has
been, or is qualified for.appoihtment as, a Judge of a High Court and is
·appointed by the Federal Governmenl after consultation with 1he Chief
Justice of the High Cou~t.
\4) A person o~her thau ~ J\ldge of~ 'High Court who is ~ppointed as a
Judge ofa Special Court shall hold office for the period this Article remains in
force and shall not be removed from office except in the. manner prescribed in
~
~
Article 209 for the removal from office of a Judge, :and, in the ·application of
the~.a i(! Article for the purposes of this clause, any reference·i n that Article to a
Judge shall be construed as a reference to a Judge of a Special Court.

(5) The law referred to in clause (I) shall ma.ke provisio!) fot the
constitution of as ma,ny SU;preme Appellate Courts
the Federal
Government rna¥ CO!J.sider n~sary and for an app.lal against the sentence or
fi.n.al order of a Special Court being preferred to a ~lupreme Appellate Court
which shall consist of-
as
(a) a Chairman, being a Jlldg~ of tlu~ Supreme Coun to be
nominated by ,(he.F.ederal Government .after consultation with
the Chief hst;ce of Pa~is\8in; and
(b) two.Judges of the fligh Courts to be nominated by the Federal
Government after consultation with the Cl!ief hstiee of the
Hlgh Court concerned.

(6) Where. the Federal Government const1tutes more Jhan.onc Sllpfl!lnc
Appellate Cou·r t.it shall determine the tcrrito.riallinlits within.which each oM

(7). A Special Court and a Supreme AppeUate..C.ourtshall decide a case or,
as the case may be, an appeal withi.o thirty days.
(8) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Constitution, no court
shall exercise any jurisdiction wllatsoever in relation to any proceedings
before, or order or sentence passed by a Special Court or a Supreme Appellate
Colltt con.stituted under a law referred to in clause (I), except as provided in
such law.".

Amendment of Fifth Schedlal~ to tbe Constitutioo.-fn the Constitution, in'tbe
fifth Schedule,(I )
in the Part relating to the Supreme Court.(a) in the

for the figure "7,900" the f!gure ''9,900", and f9r the figure
"7,400" the figure "9,500'', shall b<! substituted ; and
(ii) after the words " per mensern". at the end, the commas and
words '' ,or such higher salary as the President may, from time
to time, determine" shall be ~dded : and
(b) ~for the third par4graph the followi:ng shall be substituted,
namcly:"3. 'The pension payable to a retired Judge of the Supreme
Court per mensem sltall not be less or more than the amount
specified in the t.able below, depending on the lenglh of his service
as Judge in that Court or a High Court:
Provided that the President may, from time to time, raise the
minimum or maximum amount of pen,sion so specified:Judge ,
