1. Quilt Top
[ ] Measure Quilt Top

[ ] Remove loose threads,
pins & pet hair, front and back
[ ] Mark the top with a safety pin
2. Backing
[ ] Measure backing size. Add 6 inches more than
top
Top Width + 6” ________
Top Length + 6” ________
[ ] Square Up Backing (very important)
All edges even and straight
[ ] Press Backing
If pieced backing, press seams to one side (not
open) NOTE: I do not quilt 2-sided quilts.
Selvage edges removed from seams
If add muslin strips to enlarge sides of backing,
press away from quilt top.
[ ] If backing will be centered:
Mark the center with a safety pin
Add a note indicating how backing is to be
centered.
[ ] Mark the backing center top with a safety pin
3. Quilt using DSM?
[ ] Quilt as desired with your domestic sewing
machine.
4. Use Longarm Machine
Quilter?
[ ] Make appointment with your longarm
quilter
[ ] Choose batting
Cotton, Blend, Wool, Polyester
If you provide, add 6 inches more than
top
