GUEST SPEAKER – Mr CHRIS BLACK DEPUTY PRINCIPAL, HEAD OF CAMPUS – EAST B.Ed.; Grad.Dip.RE; M.Ed.Leadership Chris Black joined the College in 2016, taking up the position of Head of Campus - East, a role he is very excited about. Chris has been involved in Catholic education for nearly 30 years, spending a considerable period of time involved in girl's education. Chris's leadership experience includes leading in curriculum and pastoral positions, senior pathways roles and school organisation. For two years he held the position of Acting Principal at Killester College. Over the past 5 years Chris has led the establishment and development of a Family Learning centre and has spent much time fostering school and family partnerships. It is this work together with his role as a parent of four children that Chris recognises the significance and importance of fostering such relationships. Chris will be focusing his presentation on the importance of school and family partnerships . Evening will begin with a viewing of our newly completed Avenue and installed Sculpture of St Peter. GUEST SPEAKER – Miss KARISSA ROBERTSON TEACHING STAFF - MEDIA, DANCE & DRAMA LEARNING ADVISOR, GLOWREY SPC MUSICAL PRODUCTION 2016- CHOREOGRAPHER B.Film&Media; Grad.Dip.Ed.; Crad.Cert.RE Miss Karissa Robertson has, in 2016, taken on the role of Choreographer for the St Peter’s College Musical Production 2016, HAIRSPRAY THE MUSICAL’ which will be staged at the George Jenkins Theatre in Frankston over four performances, starting with a Matinee Performance on 10 th August, followed by three evening performances from Opening Night on Thursday 11th August through to our Closing Night Performance on Saturday 13th August. Karissa has extensive training and experience in Film, Drama and Dance. She will share with us the inspiration behind her passion for Production, both within the Education Sector and privately with a local Production Group. GUEST SPEAKER – Mrs HELEN SMITH GIFTED & TALENTED CO-ORDINATOR TEACHING STAFF - ENGLISH LEARNING ADVISOR, AVILA B.Arts; Grad.Dip.Ed.; M.Ed.Leadership Mrs Helen Smith joined St Peter’s College in 2015. This year she has taken up the newly created role of Gifted & Talented Co-ordinator. Helen will share with us a little of her teaching journey which includes her publishing several English text books. Helen was awarded ‘The National Excellence in Teaching Award, Victoria in 1994, as well as being a nominee for Herald-Sun ‘Teacher of the Year’ in 2004. She will talk about her passion for this newly created role at St Peter’s College, after her input into initiating our 40+ VCE Study Hub in 2015 for our senior students. She will also outline how she sees our Halo Program developing over the next few years, as junior students of today move into our VCE Study Hub. Damien will share with us a little about his journey to teaching at St Peter’s College. He will also speak about Art & Technology in the Bishop Jeremiah Coffey Centre for Creativity. Damien comes to St Peter’s College with vast experience and A passion for the teaching of Visual Arts, Wood Technology, Electronics, Visual Communications. Evening will include a Tour of our Bishop Jeremiah Coffey, Centre for Creativity facilities. GUEST SPEAKER – Ms MICHELE MCARDLE HOUSE LEADER TEACHING STAFF, HUMANITIES & ENGLISH B.Ed. Ms Michele McArdle joined St. Peter's College in 2016, as our Kolbe House Leader, at the West Campus. Michele will tell us a little of her journey to St Peter’s College and her role as House Leader, and the importance of St Peter’s College philosophy in ‘Educating the whole child’, which includes the all-important Pastoral Care Program, delivered by our House System. Michele has had a full and varied career to date, encompassing Head of Media Studies, Year Level Co-ordinator, English Convenor and English, History, PE and Religious Education teacher. Michele will also share a little of her role as Ambassador for One Girl. GUEST SPEAKER – Mr BRIAN WALLWORK TEACHING STAFF, MUSIC & MATHS Grad.Dip.Teach.; Cert IV Training & Assessment; Assc.Dip.Business; B.Music Mr Brian Wallwork joined the College at our East Campus this year. Brian will share with us a little of his journey into teaching and his role at St Peter’s College with a focus on the importance of Music & Learning. As well as holding numerous teaching positions from 2007, Brian has operated a private teaching practice and managed, conducted and performed in many musical formats. He will also share a little about his performance tours in America, Germany, England, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, New Zealand and Indonesia, as well as in numerous Australian Regional tours. Brian has been heavily engaged in performance as a soloist in orchestras, ensembles and quartets and has been Concert Master or Principal Violin in orchestras and in musical productions. Brian is an accomplished violinist.
