A Moment in Time – Dennis Earl
LAKE NEWS
Logan Knoebel (age 15) caught a nice
bass. This beauty was 22” long and
weighed 4.9 lbs. It was obviously prespawn due to the size of her belly. Logan
caught her on Easter Sunday, on the north
shore of the lake. He used a spinner bait
with a trailer hook and released her back
into the water after a couple pictures were
taken. He was pretty excited that's for
sure...
The future of our Country and our Club is in the
Children!
We all agree that we give our children the things
that they need; Shelter, food, clothing and
education. These things are a given.
But the greatest things that we can give as parents
is our time, our interest in them, listen to them, learn
who they are, what they want to be! What are
their interests? Do they have a passion?
Our Club offers many options; Outdoor activities,
all aspects of the shooting sports, such as sporting
clays, youth scholastic clay program, rifle shooting,
pistol shooting, archery. We have a great
Scouting program, fishing, hiking and so much
more. The club also offers employment
opportunities and gives our youth an opportunity
to interact with all ages and opportunities to make
new friends.
So Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers,
Sisters and Friends, we need to invite our young
people to join us in the club activities. So let’s all
get together to promote our great club!

SCOUTING NEWS
Pack 933 News
In March, the Pack held our yearly Pinewood Derby. We had a great turnout and the scouts and their families all had a great time.
We presented trophies to the top 3 overall fastest times and trophies for the Best in Show, Best in Stock and the Turtle Award. The
Webelo 1, Bear and Tiger dens all took 1 trophy a piece, with the Wolf Den taking 3. We would like to thank each scout and their
families for taking the time to build their cars for us to enjoy! Each den is busy working on their requirements for the scouts to
achieve their rank by May 2016. April will bring a service project for the Pack. We will be working on some spring cleanup at
Epworth Church which hosts all of our Pack Meetings along with den and committee meetings.

Reviews – Ryder Orr and Greg Venditti.

active group of retired members meet over coffee,
donuts and a lot of conversation and of course a
50/50. There were 36 members present at the
March meeting and we had a very good time as
usual.
We had a short meeting to discuss various club
activities. Then the usual show and tell on various
firearms that members brought in.
By the time you read this we will have had our
April meeting were many members brought in any
10/22 rifles they have for our topic of discussion.
All members are more than welcome to attend, so
feel free to join us and bring your guns for show

firearm and outdoor knowledge as there is a great
knowledge base in this group.

retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

The Patriots Edition:
Founding Fathers of the United States of America
Sacrifice, Perseverance, Guts and Glory
The “Founding Fathers of the United States of America” refers to the brave individuals who would challenge the largest imperial nation of the time, so
that a new and free nation could emerge. These leaders of democracy inhabited the thirteen British Colonies in North America. The colonies were
subjects of the British Empire and struggled not only to make a living in a very tough environment but were then regulated and taxed without
representation.
The colonies were also subjected to quartering of troops such that private homes would be required to house and provide provisions to the soldiers of
Great Britain. The Quartering Acts passed by Great Britain were eventually repealed but their military commanders continued to illegally force the
colonies to house their soldiers.



The term Founding Fathers has several broad meanings as mentioned in the above paragraph.
It is also used in a more narrowly defined way such as: Those who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Those who were delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention and took part in drafting the constitution of the United States. Also,
those who signed the Articles of Confederation.
The initial conspiracy against the British Crown began with the First Continental Congress that met September 5, 1774 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
with 56 delegates that included: George Washington, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, John Dickinson, and John Jay. The primary purpose of the
Congress was to unite the thirteen colonies and appeal to the British Crown for relief from the oppressive policies inflicted on their respective colonies.
It also served to administer boycott actions to counter the British policies.
It was the Second Continental Congress, meeting on May 10, 1775, that adopted the Declaration of Independence. This congress
added the familiar names of Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock. The Revolutionary War transpired from 1775 to 1783.
The Constitution of the United States came together after several conventions held from 1781 through 1789.
This is a brief history of our humble beginning as a new nation. It is essential to understanding the stories to be told of persecution and heroism
through the period of the Revolutionary War. Have you ever wondered what became of the 56 men of the 2 nd Continental Congress that signed the
Declaration of Independence?


Seventeen signers fought in the war.
Five signers were caught and held as prisoners by the British of which one died in captivity.
Eleven signers had their homes and property destroyed.
Thirteen signers became governors. Eighteen signers served in the legislature. Sixteen became state and federal judges. Seven became
representatives and six became senators
Thomas McKean of Delaware was “hunted like a fox” and had to move his family five times in a few months.
Adams, Jefferson, and Carrol were the longest surviving signers. Adams and Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826, the 50 th anniversary of
the Declaration of Independence. Carrol was the last signer to die in 1832 at the age of 95.
Interesting facts of the founding fathers:

Thomas Jefferson has been described as a(n): agriculturalist, anthropologist, architect, astronomer, bibliophile, botanist, classicist,
diplomat, educator, ethnologist, farmer, geographer, gourmet, horseman, horticulturist, inventor, lawyer, lexicographer, linguist,
mathematician, meteorologist, musician, naturalist, numismatist, paleontologist, philosopher, political philosopher, scientist, statesman,
violinist, writer. He was also fluent in Greek, Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, and German!

In terms of entertainment George Washington enjoyed raffles and lotteries, card playing, fox hunting, duck hunting, fishing, cockfighting,
horse racing, boat racing, and dancing.

Of the Founding Fathers who became president, only George Washington did not go to college. John Adams graduated from Harvard,
James Madison graduated from Princeton, and Thomas Jefferson attended the College of William and Mary

I know that most of you who have read this article may have already heard most of this story several times. Most of you, are patriots in heart, and
believe our country should strive to live up to the principles of our Founding Fathers. However, we can become complacent about the intense
meaning the story holds for today’s politics. Our country seems to be slipping further away from the intentions held by the Founding Fathers. Many
people in our great country are self-interested and not paying attention to the world as our country slowly descends closer and closer to a form of
tyrannical government that the Fathers sacrificed so much to overcome. This stuff (history of the United State) is barely existent or not at all taught
in our schools. So, our younger generations are losing the connection with our founding principles. You can help by talking to today’s young people
and getting them interested in the history of our country whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Take kids to re-enactments and museums where American history is presented. An example is Ohio’s contribution to the Revolutionary War at Fort
Laurens in Bolivar, Ohio. It is an easy drive and sponsors the annual Revolutionary War Re-enactment. Fort Laurens has an excellent museum that is
open all year and sure to capture the minds of the younger generation. You can find more information at www.fortlaurens.org.
