Dear Parents,
One more week until the 2nd quarter ends! I have seen lots of maturity and growth since
September! As a result, on Friday the 29th we will have donuts for a special treat!
The students in our class have either not gone to study hall at all during the quarter or
have only visited once!!
Great job!!!
A few reminders of things that will be in place for 3rd quarter:
*Goal this quarter is 9-12 multiplication facts.
*All assignments are in cursive handwriting now!! This includes labeling on math
word problems!!
*We will also begin our History Unit this quarter! We are excited study California
Geography.
We will also be learning the 50 states!! I suggest getting a puzzle or the music CD or
DVD from www.audiomemory.com/geography for $12.95- $15.00. This CD and DVD
will also help your child in 5th grade when they review the states and learn the capitals as
well.
*We will also begin using class money instead of tickets starting: Feb. 1st!
*If your child does NOT visit Study Hall for the entire month, he/she WILL receive
an extra $10 of classroom money per/month! If he/she visits Study Hall more than
twice a month, he/she will NOT receive the extra salary.
A list of ways to earn and lose money will go home on Feb. 1st.

*Complete Fairy Tale Book Rough Draft.
*Books and Rough Draft packet will be handed out on Monday.
*Mon. Take AR Star Test in Computer Lab for new ZPD
*Wed. RCH Test
*Thurs. AR Points and folders due
Math: Review for Chpt. 7 Graphing.
*Tues./Thurs. last chance to make 5-8 Goal for 2nd quarter
*Thurs. Chpt. 7 Graphing test
English: Work on Mountain Language. Journaling. Critter Paragraphs.
History: Unit 1- Lesson 1 – What are Land and Water Like in Your Area?
Drill (7 continents and 4 oceans)
Bible:
Study of David the Warrior King! Learn 4 Bully Breakers! Do your Memory Verse
Homework 2x over the long weekend! No Tues. homework if you do!

*Thurs. Memory Verse Test
*Don’t forget that Friday, Jan. 29th is a half day-NOON DISMISSAL!
