Letter from the
Board President and the
Executive Director
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to share an overview of Good Shepherd
Services’ recent accomplishments. As outlined in our Strategic
Plan, in 2015 we continued to increase our services in Central
Bronx, East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Red Hook,
Brooklyn, serving over 33,000 young people and families
through 86 programs in New York City.
Some of our highlights include:
• We broke ground on a Community Center in East New
York that will promote community development and
contribute to the social capital and strength of the
neighborhood.
• We introduced new violence prevention programs and
mental health initiatives in our juvenile justice programs.
• We expanded programs in Brooklyn and the Bronx to
offer health care, family counseling, and post-secondary
education support.
• We initiated several community schools.
• Through our 16 Multiple Pathways to Graduation programs,
1,495 young people who had been off-track for
graduation obtained their high school diploma.
Despite the challenges inherent in our work, our commitment
to serve New York City’s most vulnerable communities never
wavers. Our vision is clear: through innovative services,
collaborations, and advocacy, we will continue to leverage the
strengths of our young people and their families so that they
may live and grow in thriving neighborhoods, and develop the
skills they need to realize their fullest potential.
This vision is shared by our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers
and donors, and we are deeply grateful for their— and your—
support and dedication. Thank you.
Sincerely,
John K. Adams
