It is a 7.1 sq mile autonomous city of Spain and an enclave located on the north coast of North Africa. (Located just 20 km from the coast of Spain, prior to 1995 Ceuta was considered part of Cadiz Province.). Ceuta is surrounded by Morocco and separated from the Iberian Peninsula by the Strait of Gibraltar. NARRATIVE: No details INJURY: Unknown, but the injury was serious. TREATMENT: When the soldier was taken to hospital it was decided that his injured limb should be amputated. The operation took place the next day. Outcome unknown. SPECIES: Not identified. Reports from Tetouan suggest that the region remains peaceful. The market in Ceuta has been extremely busy. While a soldier from the garrison was bathing he was bitten by a shark which left him seriously injured. When the soldier was taken to hospital he was in serious condition and it was decided that the injured limb should be amputated.
