Richard Carver

RICHARD CARVER, born abt. 1577 or 1587,
probably in Filby, Norfolk, England. He died in
September 1641 in Watertown, Massachusetts
Massachusetts. There was also a Governor John
Carver, born 1560, a Deacon and passenger on the
Mayflower. I wonder if he is a brother or relative.
Carver married his first wife, Margaret Skurrie, on
November 24, 1614. She was born in 1593 in Filby,
England. Margaret died in November 1618.
The Public Records Office in London listed 115
Norfolk residents licensed to pass to New England in
April 1637 on either the "John and Dorothy" or the
"Rose".
Carver married his second wife, Elizabeth, in 1619 in
Filby. She was born in 1595 in Filby. Elizabeth died
November 1622 in Filby.
Carver married his third wife, Grace Walker, on June
7, 1623, in St. Stephen, Norwich, Norfolk, England.
Grace Walker was born in 1599 in Norwich, Norfolk,
England. Grace died July 20, 1671 in Watertown,
It was customary for young and unmarried men to
engage themselves for two or three years as an
employee of an older planter who would pay their
passage to the New World.
Once Carver died Isaac would have served his term
of indebtedness.
