Message from Your Governor Greetings Brothers and Coworkers! Welcome to the Moose 2016-2017 New
Year, which starts May 1. I appreciate your support and confidence you’ve shown in me by electing me as your
Governor. Thanks to Mike Harris and the previous LOOM board for improving the lodge so much last year! We
will strive to do as well this year. If you have any suggestions for fundraisers or improvements for the enjoyment
of our members, don’t hesitate to let me know. I will weigh your ideas seriously and implement them if feasible.
We still need an experienced Administrator. If you are interested please let me know. We’re starting
out this year with a bang – 4 fundraisers this month: 1. We’ll have a breakfast May 7 from 8-11am
in the Dining Room, serving your choice of scrambled eggs or fried eggs to order, bacon or sausage,
grits, gravy, toast or biscuit, jams and jellies, coffee and orange juice for $7 per plate for adults, $4
ages 5-12, free for children under age 5. Legion is hosting a turkey shoot at the same time in the ballroom.
2. Community wide yard sale May 14 from 8am-3pm. You can rent a space for $20, and a table for $5 if you
don’t have your own. Proceeds from rentals go to the Lodge. Bring your items to sell and make some money
from your sales! At the yard sale the Legion will sell hot dogs, BBQ, chips and soda. 3. Cornhole
tournament 1pm May 21 - $5 entry fee, blind draw. 4. We’re restarting professional ballroom dance classes
on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month for as long as we at least break even. Thanks to Brigitte Eason for
her generous donation to the Wall of Honor! We will continue the Wall of Honor this year. Jim Steele, Governor
Message from the Senior Regent Thank you so much for your support. I am looking forward to a wonderful
year and am so proud of our coworkers. Please welcome our 2016-2017 Board of Officers: Jr. Graduate
Regent: Janelle Steele, Jr. Regent: Brenda Stallings, Secretary/Treasurer: Tammy Plante, Recorder: Diane
Bargo. Our Chapter Development Chairmen are: Higher Degree: Donna Popp, Community Service: Terry
Peabody, Sports/Activities: Pam Easton, Mooseheart/Moosehaven: Marilyn Mitchell, and Membership
Retention: Ginger Dellinger. Special Committee Chairmen: Audit Committee: Yvonne Austin, Chairman; Meg
Richardson and Dianne Powell. Guides are: Nancy Harnsberger, Assistant Guide: Melanie Burnette. Please
thank these ladies for their time and support for our Chapter. May is Membership Retention month and our
fundraiser will be used to support Moosehaven's Daily Needs. Thank you for your participation. We will have an
activity after our Chapter Meeting May 5th: Ginger will be teaching us how to play Bunco. Please ask
those members you have sponsored to attend a New Member Orientation. Please join us for the LOOM
Breakfast on May 7th. We need volunteers for serving and clean up. The men will be cooking. Yum Yum!
We will be preparing for the Out Door Yard Sale on the 14th. Make sure you get your reservation in for a space

Sports: 1. Golf dates this month are the 1st at Forsyth Golf Club and the 15th at Panola Mountain, both at
8:30am. 2. Pool tournaments are every Thursday at 8pm unless posted otherwise.
Dance Classes with professional instructors for only $5 for each hour session ($10 payable first Thurs. of
the month), followed by ½ hour practice. May 12 and 26 we will learn more moves in the rumba, a romantic
Latin dance that’s very simple to learn. If you missed the first 2 rumba classes in April, don’t worry. You can
easily catch up. Benefits of ballroom dancing: good social activity, good exercise, dancing may cut Alzheimer's
risk by as much as 50 percent a new study suggests. This is a Lodge fundraiser - please support it!
Legion News: We’re having a turkey shoot May 7 from 8-11am during the LOOM breakfast. $5 buys you 3
shots at winning a gift certificate. Good luck! At the May 14 LOOM yard sale the Legion will sell hot dogs, BBQ,
chips and soda. The regular Moose Legion Meeting is held on the second Friday night (May 13 this month) of
each month at 7pm, unless advised otherwise. If you haven’t been to a meeting, then come try us out! Legion
Meetings are open to all Moose and WOTM Members.
Sickness and Distress: The following members or their family members have had medical issues and need
your prayers: Roxy Lane, Dick Toppins, Dany Downer, Gil and Jeff Gillenwater, Donna Popp, Johnny Harris,
Marty Harris, Fred Willetts, Tom Peacock, Mickey Buchanan, Jeanette Hicks, Kim Wooster, Don Gilmer, Myra
Young, Harry Austin, Ricky Rutledge (Jenny Evans’ grandson-in-law), Patti Spriggs, Dana Linton and her 5 year
old daughter, and John Curran. If you know anyone who needs prayer please call the Lodge @ 770-957-5303.
Deaths: Condolences to Marion Crumbley, whose brother (Kenny Patrick) passed on April 13th, and to
Charlotte Tucker, who lost her sister-in-law on April 13th. Please pray for the family’s healing.
