From Chivitavekia port we shall head for
Rome – the capital of Italy and one of the

Sicily- Catania- Taormina
Catania is an industrial port town that
have been destroyed several times by
volcanic eruptions from the neighbouring
Mount Etna volcano.
We shall mainly visit the resort town
Taormina situated on the slopes of Mt.
Tauro.The town lies on a cliff overlooking
the bay and Mt. Etna. Taormina has
a rich past of cultural and economic
prosperity dating to the Greek, Roman
and Medieval times. Nowadays,Taormina
is a very popular tourist destination.
❖ From Catania will drive along the coastal
highway and the beaches, go up the winding
road to the town Taormina. We shall
stroll through the picturesque alleys of the
Medieval town, its central sights, shops and
cafes until we reach the Greek Theatre at
the town’s end.
❖ We shall visit the Greek Theatre dating
to 3 AD which was built by the Greeks,
renovated by the Romans and turned into
an amphitheatre where gladiators used to
fight each other. Nowadays, it serves as a
stage for performances and plays.

Greece- Santorini, Volcano at Nea
Kameni
Santorini is one of Greek’s most beautiful
islands. It is an archipelago of volcanic
islands whose crater was flooded by the
sea water after a major eruption that
took place some 3600 years ago and
provided the source to Plato’s dialogues.
❖ We shall set sail to the volcanic island
Nea Kameni. We shall ascend by foot
to an area of wild volcanic scenery and
reach the crater of the dormant volcano.
❖ We shall return by foot to the boat and
sail along the island to the Hot Water
Springs that are created from the hot
gases emitted from the seabed. It is possible
to take a swim in the hot water springs.
❖ We shall sail back to the dock in Fira.
