Pet Specialist - Retail Sales - Nutritious pet food and quality pet supplies in Los Alamos, NM - Being on-time to start work and working your hours scheduled, - Performing specified opening and closing duties of the store, when appropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, doing activities such as: --safeguarding a store key, --being conscientious of your safety and store security, --performing any daily cleaning work, --counting the store till, and --filling out deposit slips. - Being friendly to customers and customers' pets, - Knowing appropriate behavior around customers' pets and acting in that manner, - Assisting customers with purchases, including bringing food bags to their vehicle and loading it into their vehicles (bags can weigh up to 50 pounds), - Being knowledgeable or willing to learn about the pet nutrition and behavior and able to communicate it effectively to assist customers, both in the store and on the phone, helping them pick the best products for them, - Answering the store phone in a courteous manner, - Paying attention to customer activities to help prevent theft, - Receiving orders from distributors and delivery services and assisting the distributors in loading and unloading merchandise (bags can weigh up to 50 pounds), - Being familiar or willing to learn to use the Mac OSX computer system, - Learning the point of sale software, - Performing sales: using the point of sale software, receiving payment, counting back change, and providing receipts, - Paying close attention to details, such as noting any issues with our database that may need correction, - Placing inventory into the point of sale system, when appropriate, - Arranging and putting merchandise on the shelves (bags can weigh up to 50 pounds), - Keeping the store neat and clean during store hours, including ensuring that any accidents from a customer's pet is immediately taken care of, - Shoveling snow on the sidewalk, keeping the store entrance area clear, - Using a step ladder to get stock down from high shelves for customers, - In any emergency, immediately notifying Cyndi Wells, the store owner, or her designee, - Communicating customers' comments and suggestions on the store to Cyndi Wells, - Proactively thinking about ways to improve the store for the community and your own job satisfaction and communicating those suggestions to Cyndi Wells, and - Enjoying your job. 1/1
