invisible energies

invisible energies
ACTIVITY
ENERGIES: HAINES & HINTERDING
OVERVIEW: This activity visualises the invisible flux lines (flow of energy) that exist around magnets. Use drawing to
capture these patterns and create a series of abstract artworks.
YOU WILL NEED:
PROCESS:
1. MAKE A LIST of what invisible energies we know are around us, for example, gravity, wind, electricity, sound or Wi-Fi
signals.
2. WHAT OBJECTS CREATE THESE ENERGIES? Write them down. Examples may include a mobile phone, a computer,
an electrical cable, ceiling lights, electrical appliances, plants, other people - or even yourself!
3. PICK AND OBJECT AND DRAW IT.
4. NOW DRAW THE OBJECT’S ‘INVISIBLE ENERGY’. What would it look like if you could see the energy coming from
your object? Think about the following things to help you:
• Is the energy week or strong?
• What colour/s is the energy?
• Does it fill the room or only exist near the object itself?
example: shouting energy
REFLECTION:
- Why did you decide to use those colours, shapes and lines to show your objects energy?
- Do people experience or imagine the same energy in different ways?
- Are there other forces or energies that we feel may exist but can’t explain? An example could be emotions, like
love or excitement. How could you communicate these energies through visuals, sounds, or words?
