relationships with these children are priceless for us. The children have shown improvement in so many
ways from your time invested in them. John’s student said that he taught him to read. Dave’s student
received Student of the Month and Ms. McIntosh gave credit to Dave’s work. Jane’s student has finally
been able to turn in homework for the first time all year. Ruth’s student’s favorite class is Kids Hope.
Nancy Jo’s student has gained trust & confidence. Rachel’s student is confident with his homework and is
much calmer. Mary’s student is talking, confident and having fun now. Pam’s student is more confident.
Joe’s student gets his homework done now. Bill’s student loves his time from the first minute. Bob’s
student has an improved attitude. Nancy C’s student feels important and valued. Ben’s boys are talking &
more confident. Karen’s student is happy on KH days. I could go on and on. It is clear, at this point of
the year to see the positives that the children are benefitting from you time with them.

Ralston House: We are very happy to report that our Pinwheel Sale earned $405 for Ralston
House! We have sent a photo of our garden to their website.
New Genesis: We will be serving a meal at the New Genesis Shelter on May 21st. Please
check the bulletin board for the sign-up sheet. If you haven’t had a chance to go with us to
serve, please give it a try. It’s a great way to share the Lord’s Love with folks who are trying
very hard to get their lives back on track.
Other Important Announcements
Sunday School: The last day of Sunday School for this school year will be May 21st. We'll be honoring our
Sunday School teachers that day. Please be sure to thank Susan Bailey, Sandy Madura, Laura Swanson,
Rosemary Bogart, Bill Madura, and Bob Davis. Also, shout out to Al Jeffries, Pat Kyle, and Jane Vander
Kooi who all help lead the adult class!
Celebration for Barb: On Sunday, May 21st, we will be having a celebration between services to honor
Barbara Schipper for her 45 years of service to our music program. She has done this as a volunteer and it
has been a wonderful gift to us! Please plan to join us for this very special party immediately following the
congregational meeting to elect officers.
Preschool
Our preschool days seem to fly by when May arrives! We are celebrating the letter Z the first week in
May, and enjoying some zebra and zoo activities while wearing our black and white striped clothes and
snacking on Oreos and milk!
Outdoor Day is spent on the playground, painting original artwork on the fence, fishing for items in the
purple pool, playing hopscotch and with hula hoops, chasing bubbles and enjoying some Colorado
sunshine!
Park Day begins with a walk down to the park, playground time, pond and sculpture exploration, rolling
down the hill behind the outdoor theatre, and a walk back to school to enjoy Popsicles out in the
courtyard.
Our final day at preschool is May 25th. The preschoolers participate in several races as their families cheer
them all on. They join their families afterward for a picnic on the grass in front of the church. It is a
bittersweet day as we say goodbye to ten of our students, and "see you in September" to the others!
Miss Bailey is leaving the preschool to pursue her career goals, and we wish her well but will miss her
presence at the school! I am happy to be able to keep in touch so easily with her even if we aren't teaching
together. We will let you know when we have decided on her replacement for the next school year.
Happy Spring to all!

A Letter from Pastor John
“Easter: ½ Off”
That’s the sign I saw at Walgreens and at the grocery store a week or so ago.
I know what the sign was advertising, but it struck me as a possible sermon message.
What does a “½ off” Easter mean to a follower of Jesus Christ?
If I’m cynical, it could mean that only ½ of the people who attended at Easter will be
there the following Sunday. Or that we will have about ½ of the enthusiasm for our
faith after Easter is over. It could even mean I might spend only ½ of my time in
preparing for a message, or something like that. I hope not.
One thing is clear – there is no way Jesus could have ever taken “½ off” of the events
leading to Easter. He could not lessen the pain of the beatings by half, or the suffering
on the cross by ½. And, I am grateful that Jesus did not just rise “halfway” from the
dead. Jesus did not “halfway” conquer sin and partially conquer death. Thankfully,
our eternal life is also not cut in half where we will only live with Christ for a while, but
not forever.
Easter isn’t (and shouldn’t be) a ½ off event.
So even though Easter was last month, and you can still get a hold of a few chocolate
bunnies at a discount, take a little time to truly thank God for Easter today.
Thank Him that he did not take any short cuts in going through his death on the cross,
and that his death and resurrection are fully complete.
Thank Him for doing that for you, personally, and for the complete forgiveness of our
sins.
Thank him that he never works on a half time basis, nor halfway listens to our prayers.
John
