Expansion data cable (DVI style) Expansion Box with: o SCSI controller installed o Express card reader installed The Expansion Box connection (It is not hot pluggable) User should follow these steps in order to connect and use the Expansion Box: 1) Connect the (expansion DVI style) cable to the Expansion Box 1 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net 2) Connect the other side of the expansion cable to the Expansion Port on the main unit. (The Expansion Port located on either the back panel of the 8” Field unit or on the top panel of the main rugged unit). 3) Connect the Expansion Box to the AC/DC power bricks on the AC power outlet (with Supplied AC 2 prong cable) 4) Turn the Expansion Box power switch on. 2 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net Expansion Box On/off Switch Expansion Box DC power in 5) Power and boot up the main unit. 3 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net SCSI hard disk drive connection: 1) Plug the VHDCI68 Pin Male to HD68 Pin Female adapter to connect the SCSI 2 channel LVDS cable to the SCSI controller front connector. 2) Connect the SCSI terminator in the last slot of the SCSI cable. 3) Connect the SCSI hard disk drive to the first connector of the SCSi dual channel cable. 4) Power the SCSI drive with the external power supply. 5) When running the application, on the port selection screen, the user should not select any source port/”Suspect” port. The user only needs to select the targets/”Evidence” ports. 6) The user selects the detect drives icon in the run screen. 7) SCSI hard drives will appear with the “label” SCSI in the other drives detected panel. 8) The user can connect and disconnect SCSI hard drives without having to reboot the main Unit. (User will have to re scan for new hardware in the device manager every time he change the SCSI hard drive) 4 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net SCSI hard disk drives 5 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net SCSI comments: 1. The user will have to set a different ID jumper on each SCSI drive in order for the OS to recognize the 2 SCSI drives plugged into the same cable. 2. For support 50 Pin Narrow SCSI drives, the user can purchase a 50 Pin Narrow Female to 68 Pin Female adapter from a third part supplier. For example, a 68 Female ADP-9056 from CS Electronics at http://www.cs-electronics.com/scsi1-scsi2adapt.htm 3. We do not recommend using more than two SCSI drives, due to the limited 250MB/s bandwidth of the box. The Express Port Card Reader and 1394 (It is not hot pluggable) If the user intends to use the 1394 Express card adapter, he should insert the 1394A/B dual port into the Express Card reader of the Expansion Box before he boot the main unit. The Adapter is not hot pluggable. 1394A devices that are inserted to this adapter will have to power by external power source. Also user will have to scan for new hardware in the device manager, every time he changes the 1394 device. The user should use 1394 data cables (not supplied) to connect the 1394 devices to the 1394 express card adapter. 6 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net The Express port Card Reader and 4 SAS adapter (It is not hot pluggable) Sonnet 4 Ports Express Card Adapter: Supports SAS/SATA storage systems with a 4-port mini-SAS interface, detachable Express Card/54 stabilizer Portable Mini-SAS Connection Sonnet’s Tempo™ SAS Pro Express Card/34 card enables the user to connect a Windows® laptop (with an Express Card slot) to a storage system with a mini-SAS interface. This 3 Gb/s host controller supports up to four SAS or SATA drives. Sonnet includes a detachable stabilizer that provides extra stability and prevents the card from becoming dislodging from an Express Card/54 slot due to the stiffness of a mini-SAS cable. The Sonnet Tempo need to be used with a Mini SAS cable splitter attached to 4 SAS data and power The Sonnet Tempo device is not hot pluggable. User will have to plug the device into the Expansion box before he boot the main unit. User will need to download and installed device drives from Sonnet website into the main unit. User should scan for new hardware in the main unit’s device manger, every time he changes the plugged SAS/SATA hard drives to this adapter. The expected top speed 10GB/min per channel. 7 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net Host-Based SFF-8088 26-CKT External Universal Key (4) Target-Based SFF-8482 29-Pin Drive Connector with power 8 MediaClone, Inc. 6914 Canby Ave, Unit 111, Reseda, CA 91335 818-654-6286 [email protected] www.media-clone.net
