Inverse Variation Project - Hackettstown School District

Inverse Variation Project
This project focuses on writing equations and using tables and graphs. Show what
you have learned throughout this unit by creating a table of values for a situation.
You may use whatever variables you want to use that make sense with your
situation. (It doesn’t have to be x and y) Be sure that your table can be created
using an inverse variation equation. Find the equation that works for your table.
HINT: It may be easier to create your equation first. The goal of this project is for
other students in the class to understand inverse variation. On one side of a
poster, you will have your table and graph. Ask the other students in the class to
find your inverse variation equation. On the back side of the poster, you will have
your equation. Demonstrate how you found the answer.

•
Create a situation
Find the equation that goes along with your situation
Create a table and graph for that situation
Make a poster with the table and graph on the front
Show your solution and equation on the back
Explain why your equation works
Situation: A group of Hackettstown Middle School students
volunteered to work all day helping to build a new school garden.
Pizza Hut offered to supply 12 large pizzas for their lunch. The
volunteers share the pizza equally.
