International Summer School
2017 at UWE Bristol
17–28 July and 31 July–11 August
Study in the UK
If you are considering studying abroad or just want to experience
university life in the UK, this two-week course is for you. You’ll be
based in Bristol, a vibrant and exciting city just 90 minutes from
London. It was voted the best UK city to live in by The Sunday Times
in 2015, so what better place to spend the summer.
Gain new experiences
During your time at UWE Bristol, you will take part in a variety of academic activities
which will help you to improve your English, and develop your presentation skills and
knowledge of the UK and its culture. You’ll visit famous UK locations and learn more
about the British lifestyle. It’s a great opportunity to spend time in the UK and make
new friends, whilst developing your academic skills.
The perfect way to discover UK university life
and explore beautiful Bristol.
Discover the UK
Our experienced guides will also take you to other
famous cities in the UK.
Gloucester and Bath
The day starts with a visit to Gloucester Cathedral. On arrival we will take a short tour
of this magnificent building, finishing with the cloisters, where Harry Potter films 2
and 3 were filmed! We will then carry on our tour with a visit to the beautiful city of
Bath, where we will see the Royal Crescent and Circus, two of the city’s most famous
landmarks, before a walking tour to take in the rest of this stunning city. When the
tour finishes there will be free time for eating and shopping and an opportunity to
visit Bath Abbey before we meet with our coach and return to Bristol.
London
Take in the sights such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Trafalgar Square and
Oxford Street, as well as the famous museums and art galleries. You will have free
time for dinner and exploration before we meet at 19:00 for a twilight flight on the
London Eye (included in the package) and our return to Bristol on Saturday night.
Oxford
Visit this beautiful university city and take a guided walking tour of many of its
famous buildings and colleges before enjoying a break for lunch in Oxford’s Botanic
garden and an afternoon to explore at your leisure, or come along on an optional trip
to the high-end fashion shopping outlet at Bicester Village.
Bristol
Take a tour of Bristol city centre with your guide, learn the history of this unique city,
and find out some tips for making the most of your time here. After the tour there
will be an opportunity for free time to explore and the opportunity to have dinner at
a famous Bristol restaurant. After our evening meal we will return home via Bristol’s
most famous landmark, the Clifton Suspension Bridge to see it all lit up at night in
front of the Bristol skyline. For those on the August Summer School, there will also
be the opportunity to visit Bristol’s famous International Balloon Fiesta.
