Lamp Post Instructions Supplies*: •1” thick foam insulation board piece •2 foam poster boards 22” x 28” •Purple duct tape •1” white PVC pipe, 5’ in length •4 projector sheets •Masking tape •Yellow tissue paper Directions: Assembling the lamp post’s frame 1. Cut out all of the shapes using the templates attached. Templates will not all be at 100%, some scaling will have to be done. Note: the template identifies which material to cut each shape from and how many of each you will need. 2.Attach pieces for #s 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 13 using the indicated marks on the template. Tape together with masking tape as shown on Figure 1. 3.Once you have these pieces taped together, the next step is to assemble the lamp post. You will need a helper. Figure 1 4.Cut a circle in the center of piece #14 (the base). This is where the PVC pipe will rest. Do not cut the circle all the way through the foam, halfway is enough. (You just need the hole for the PVC to sit in.) Tape the PVC pipe as best as you can with masking tape, while someone holds the PVC pipe in place for you. 5.Place the assembled pieces of #13 over the PVC pipe so it sits wide side down on piece #14. Attach to the bottom with strips of masking tape. 6.Cut a 1” hole into #12 and pass over the PVC pipe and line it up with the edges of #13. Attach with strips of masking tape. See Figure 2 for reference. Figure 2 7.Place the assembled pieces of #11 over the PVC pipe so it sits on piece #12. Line up the edges and attach with strips of masking tape. See Figure 3 for reference. 8.Cut a 1” hole into piece #10 and pass the PVC pipe through and line it up with the edges of #11. Attach with strips of masking tape. See Figure 4 for reference. Place the assembled pieces of #9 over the PVC pipe so it sits on piece #12. Line up the edges and attach with strips of masking tape. See Figure 5 for reference. 10. Use Figure 6 as reference for steps 11 through 18. 11.Cut a 1” hole into #8 but do not cut all the way through as for the base. 12. Attach the assembled pieces of #7 wide side up to the top of #8. Figure 4 13. Attach the assembled pieces of #6 wide side up to the top of #7. 14. Until the entire lamp post has been completely duct taped, do not attach #5 to #6. 15. Attach the assembled pieces of #4 wide side down to the top of #5. 16. Attach the assembled pieces of #3 to the top of #4. 17.Attach the assembled pieces of #2 to the top of #3. Figure 5 18.Attach the assembled pieces of #1 wide side down to the top of #2. Instructions: Duct taping and final touches 19.Before attaching the top of the lamp (#6-8) duct tape the entire surface of the lamp. Including the inside. (DO NOT cover the hole made on piece #8). 20. Cut down projector sheets to fit inside of the lamp, and tape on the inside as shown in Figure 7. Figure 6 21. Place a loose ball of tissue paper inside. 22.Attach the lid of the lamp with duct tape to #6 and #5 together. 23. Attach #8 to the PVC pipe by filling the inside of the hole with hot glue, and then re-enforcing it with purple duct tape.
