Modification of IATA DG Regulations related to Engine and Vehicle
We thank you for your continuous support to JALCARGO.
Please be informed that there will be some changes on the classification of “Engine” and “Vehicle” in the IATA
Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) 58th Edition with effect from 1st January, 2017.
In the DGR 57th Edition, UN3166 is assigned to both “Engine” and “Vehicle,” but UN Number of engines will
be separated from UN3166 in the 58th Edition, and several different UN numbers will be assigned to engines
depending on the types of “fuel” used to the engines. Also, new UN Numbers will be assigned to “Machinery,”
internal combustion and “Machinery,” fuel cell, as well as to “Engine” and “Machinery,” internal combustion
being operated by environmentally hazardous substance as their fuel.

5．In accordance with the subdivision of Proper Shipping Names of Engine and Machinery, new Special
Provisions A203, A207, A208 will be introduced.
6．As for “Engine, internal combustion” and “Engine, fuel cell” of flammable liquid/flammable gas powered
(Engines in 1 and 2, to which new UN Numbers and Proper Shipping Name will be assigned), declaration
according to IATA DGR 57th Edition will be allowed as transitional measure until 31st March, 2017.
