Quick Reference
Overview
Germanwings distributes their Best and Smart fares within the traditional distribution methods within
Sabre. The Germanwings Basic Fare Red App provides additional content (Basic Fare) not previously
available within the Sabre marketplace.
The Sabre Germanwings Basic Fare Red App:
 Provides the most comprehensive and relevant content – delivering more choice and value to
Sabre Connected agencies.

Provides the ability to efficiently shop, book and manage travel for content not previously in the
Sabre marketplace.

Protects agent efficiency through an easy book and fulfillment method within the Sabre Red
Workspace.

Provides agent the ability to efficiently book and fulfill Germanwings ancillary services – seats
and bags.

Allows the Sabre Connected agent to remain within the Sabre Workspace, book the additional
content and merge the PNR back into the Sabre record.

HOW THE GERMANWINGS BASIC FARE RED APP WORKS

Once the Germanwings Basic Fare Red App has been ordered and turned on – the Red App is
ready to be used.

The Red App operates on active listening – if an availability request is made within the Sabre
Red Workspace and a Germanwings Basic fare exists on that specific city pair request -
Entry:

A popup will be displayed at the bottom of the workspace – advising that a “Germanwings
Basic Fare is Available”

The Basic Fare indicator/popup will remain visible up to 60 seconds – then will disappear. In
order to re-access the Germanwings Basic Fare – a new availability request will need to be
made in the Sabre Red Workspace to trigger the popup to reappear.

Once the indicator is displayed - Click on the ‘Germanwings Basic Fares Available” link

The Germanwings Red App will open in a separate window on the right hand side of the Sabre
Red Workspace – allowing movement between the workspace and the Red App.

The Red App can be extended/expanded across the workspace to allow a better view of the
Red App content and larger area for Red App entries


Basic Fare:
o Fares are displayed in EUR
o Includes the flight and one free item of hand luggage
o Collect miles – Boomerang Club or Miles More on continental routes only
o Price and Book Ancillary Services
 Bags

 Special Luggage and Sports Equipment
o Preferred Seating – Middle Seat €8*
o Preferred Seating - Aisle or Window €12*
o Seat with more legroom - €20* (where available)
o Lounge access at select airports HON and SEN
o Each booked segment is charged a EUR 7.50 travel/booking fee

Germanwings Basic Fare Booking Segment
o Segment is merged back as a YK segment into PNR
o Segment cannot be cancelled or modified via Red App
o Modifications need to be made directly with Germanwings
o Cancellations are not possible for Basic Fares

GERMANWINGS BASIC FARE RED APP – SCREENS
The Germanwings Basic Fare Red App will take you through 5 different screens in order to complete the
Basic Fare PNR Segment.
Screen 1: Segment and Passenger Type Information

In this section the agent will need to choose the applicable Basic Fare flight segment for
their customer and denote passenger types – Number of Adults, Children and/or Infants
Screen 2: Seats, Bags and Additional Services

In this section the agent can choose bags and seats for each traveling passenger type
Screen 3: Passenger Information

In this section the agent will need to provide the passengers – titles, first and last names and
date of birth
Screen 4: Billing and Payment Details
-
In this section the agent will need to provide the passengers billing and payment
information in order to fulfil the reservation directly with Germanwings
Screen 5: Confirmation Page

In this section – the Red App will display a PRINTABLE confirmation page outlining the
travelers itinerary with:
o Flight Details
o Passenger Details
o Payment Details
o Print Confirmation button


The Germanwings Basic Fare Red App will display applicable Germanwings Basic Fares based on
the criteria input within the availability entry within Sabre Red Workspace.

The Germanwings Basic Fare Red App will display applicable city pairs (with/without
connections) with the time of departure and arrival times. To the right of the display is a scroll
bar denoting additional flight options. A flight is chosen by selecting the appropriate radial
button next to the flight.

Once the availability entry has been made and the Germanwings Basic Fare Red App is opened –
to display/request return availability based on the last City Pair Availability (CPA) entry in the
work area – enter: 1R21MAY or 1R¥1


To display the FARE RULES – click on the “Show Fare Rules” link – next to each flight segment

A new window “Fare Rules” - will display with various tabs (Seating, Name Changes, Meal, Miles,
Rebookings) displaying pertinent fare rule information.

GERMANWINGS BASIC FARE RED APP – Passenger Types


A drop down menu for each passenger type allows input for number of passengers by type
o ADT (Adult)
o CHD (Child)
o INF (Infant)
As each passenger type and number of passengers is selected - the fare, travel fees, taxes and
charges will change accordingly


Added: 1 Child and 1 Infant – Pricing information , fees and taxes are updated
The number of included infants cannot exceed the number of adults

GERMANWINGS BASIC FARE RED APP – Bags, Seats and Additional Services

Once passenger types and number of passengers has been selected - click on “Select” in order
to proceed to Bags, Seats and Additional Services

A section for each passenger type for each flight segment allows for the selection of Bags,
Seat Selection and Additional Services for that corresponding flight.

If changes need to be made to the number of passengers or type of passengers traveling – an
option at the bottom of the Red App – allows an agent to go back to “PREVIOUS” screen and
update changes as required.
Baggage selection – each passenger type (Adult and Child only – Infants will not be given this option)
will have the option of selecting from 0-5 bags for the following selections:


Bags up to 23kg
Bags up to 32kg
As the number of bags selected increases/decreases – the associated charges will change accordingly.
Note: Passengers traveling with infant(s) – are allowed to take along a push chair or pram or travel cot
free of charge

Seat selection - A section for each passenger type for each flight segment allows for the selection of
Seats for that corresponding flight. To display the Seat map: Click on the “seat selection” link for
each passenger type


A Seat Map will open in a separate window
When hovering over a seat – a tooltip is displayed with denoting associated price

Select seat from Seat Map and click “OK” at the bottom of the screen.

Note: Infants up to 2 years do not need a seat if the passenger is willing to keep the child on their
lap. Infants with child safety seats must be booked separately.

Additional Services- A section for each passenger type for each flight segment allows for the selection of
Additional Services for that corresponding flight.

If the given service is not available for the flight it will not be displayed
on the list. For services available, but sold out, the checkbox remains
visible but is disabled.




The Passenger Details represents additional information about the passenger. Passenger Details
consists of the following information:
o Title – (not required/present in case of infants)
 MR / MRS / MS / Company
o First and Last Name
o Date of Birth (Format: DD.MM.YYYY)
o Frequent Flyer Program Name (“Miles & More” or “Boomerang Club”)
o Frequent Flyer Program Number


The Billing Details section represents information which is required in order to bill for the services
and to complete the booking confirmation. The Billing Details information consists of the following
information:
o Company (optional)
o Title (pre-populated from Passenger Detail screen)
o First and Last Name (pre-populated from Passenger Detail screen)
o Street (Format: freeform text)
o Postal Code (Format: freeform text)
o City (Format: freeform text)
o Country (drop down menu)
o Phone Number (Format: +111111111111111)
o E-mail address (Format: [email protected]

Displayed at the top of the Billing Details screen – is the flight segment, city-pair, date and times of
the requested segment

GERMANWINGS BASIC FARE RED APP – Payment Details
The Billing Details section represents information provided to fulfill the booking. The Billing Details
information consists of the following information

The Payment Details can be entered manually or it can be pre-populated from Sabre.

Clicking on the “Fill from Sabre” button – will read the credit card information stored within the
Sabre Host. The information within the Sabre profile will pre-populate the information within the
form. (if credit card information is present within the profile)

Required fields that have been pre-populated from the traveler’s profile – can be manually changed
if necessary.

The credit card number is only visible if it’s entered by the user. In cases where the credit card is
read from the Sabre profile – only the last four digits are displayed. The rest of the credit card
number remains masked, e.g. xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1234. Clicking in the credit card field will clear the
entered data – and the agent can type in new credit card information if necessary.
To complete booking – click “Purchase”


Once the booking has been “Purchased” and the Red App returns the Booking Confirmation screen –
the merge back process takes place. The PNR is ready to be merged back into the Sabre Red
Workspace.

