OME SUSPENSION SYSTEMS:
Aftermarket 4WD suspension is extremely complex. Determining the right solution for your vehicle and your requirements
demands special attention to many factors. Unlike numerous aftermarket suspension systems, which are only available
in a single configuration targeting lift height, OME offers a range of tuned and matched integrated suspension systems to
ensure the right suspension is available to suit how the vehicle is outfitted and the conditions it will encounter.
For the Toyota Prado 150 SWB, a range of suspension is now available covering both the V6 Petrol and 3.0L Diesel
engine variants. The OME front ride height has been increased by 40mm and has 3 spring options to cater for
accessories ranging from no bar, bar only, bar and winch. Nitrocharger Sport struts have been valved to match the
springs, providing improved ride quality and handling. The OME rear ride height has been matched at 40mm and with rear
springs to cater for medium, constant 200Kg and constant 400Kg loads. Nitrocharger sports shocks again have been
tuned and valved to the spring rate.
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT:
After test driving the Prado 150 SWB, the Old Man Emu team found the OE suspension had a positive road feel with a
modern style of suspension tuning from factory. An area of improvement was found in that the vehicle had a tendency
to pitch from front to rear under braking due to the nature of the short wheel base. Utilising the development of the long
wheel base version Old Man Emu were able to utilise some of the existing components but to complete the fitment and
weight requirements, an additional strut, coil and shock absorber were engineered. The results have ended up with a
comfortable controlled ride and a modest 40mm lift catering for light to medium loads and completing the offer for the
Prado 150 Series SWB.
