Message from the Chair of Governors
I attended the Staff Briefing on Wednesday to introduce myself to all staff. In
my briefing I wanted to reassure everyone that in Mr Bull’s absence the school
will still function as normal. Mr Bull is unfortunately suffering from Pneumonia.
As your Chair of Governors I am here to help and support staff, parents and
children. If there is anything you would like to discuss with me or understand
my role in more detail please contact the school office to leave your contact details and I will come back to you to arrange a suitable time to meet.

Thriving on Thursdays
Last Thursday, some pupils from Yr 4 and 5, met
up with John and Camillo
to continue a singing project.
First we learnt the original
Spanish version:
Guantanamera
Gaujira
Guantanamera
Next, we made up some
English lyrics for the song
which are:
I like to dance in the moonlight,
Wearing my red velvet
waistcoat,
I like the moon shining so
bright,
I am so happy I could float.
We meet every Thursday
in the spare Yr 6 classroom. This time we are
learning songs from Cuba.
Last week we were learning
a
song
called
‘Guantanamera’
which
means a woman who is
from
‘Guantanamo’.

this Thursday. We will
continue
with
‘Guantanamera’ and hopefully learn some new Cuban songs. We are also
hoping to think of a name
for our choir.

Dodgeball Tournament
On Friday morning 6 pupils from Year 6 went to a Level 3 Dodgeball
tournament at U.W.E Centre for Sport. We were very nervous as
this was our first dodgeball competition. When we arrived everybody at the Winter School Games warmed up together. All the
teams taking part in the dodgeball sat down and listened to the referees instructions and rules. Next Miss Willis gave us a great team
talk about trying our best and having fun. After the group stage we
made it to the semi-finals, then the finals finishing as the runners
up. We were awarded with silver medals in front of all the competitors.
I felt proud of myself and the team. We had a wonderful time at
UWE.

Football Match
On Friday January 27th we played a football match against Fishponds Academy. There were 10 pupils in the squad and we were all
very excited about playing. Although we lost 4-0, we had fun and
we enjoyed it. After the match we talked about what we could improve on, such as not leaving too much space between players and
improving our goalkeeping skills.
Attendance
Last week our overall attendance was 93%
