De.r i srael:
Thanks for your letter of March 5th. I am authorising MAUJEK to advance
Tltl0,000 to the Hebrew University for initial down payments to the architects, upon the signinc?, of the contract by the University with the architects.
I had occasion to meet with !h*. Mazar last week and I spoke to him about
the question of th student? lounge r-n<.\ kitchen facilities for the students,
^e was quite insistent that these be provided if possible and pointed out
that there were such facilities in the Kaplan School and other cafeterias
in other sbho Is. The stetement made by Shul that the contemplated one in
the PBS would be the only on the campus is not entirely oorreot. Under the
circumst rices, it would be helpful if provisions were made for it and I
notice in the statement of requirements that y>u did provide for these
facilities. I note that the architects are preparing a sketch and I assume
they will be told how we envisage the requirements and let s get suggestions
from them as well*
Sincerely yours,
Moses A . Leavitt

P.3,
I am assuming that you are discussing with the faculty staff the
requirements and other problems relating to the building and getting
some suggestions from them for changes, additions or eliminations.
