Apuntes: El pretérito Nombre ________________________________ Español 2, 2ª 6 semanas The preterite tense is used to talk about something that happened at a specific time in the past. The event is perceived by the speaker to have a definite beginning and ending. If you look at time on a line of continuum, events in the preterite are mere blips on that line. The past The present Example: I talked. Yo hablé. I ate. Yo comí. I wrote. Yo escribí.
