Ezra Daitchman – Residence Director
I am originally from New York but I currently live
in St. Louis Park. My favorite color is blue. I am
married to Mindy and have a son and daughter. My
favorite sport is hockey – Go Rangers! I do not
collect anything or have any pets. My favorite food
is anything my wife makes! I enjoy playing with my
kids and playing sports. When I watch t.v. I like
Seinfeld, Suits, and America’s Got Talent to name a
few. My personal hero is my grandfather. He went
through the concentration camps, survived the war,
and came to America. After coming to America he
joined the Army and later became the Vice
President of a food chain on the East Coast.
January is National Oatmeal Month!

From the Chief:
There is a story about an older man who was the
wagon driver of a town. A young man moved in
and he decide to also be a wagon driver, and
started taking business away from the older wagon
driver. The older wagon driver came to him and
said “Really, you are stealing my Business, and
according to Law, you should be forced to leave the
town. But I’ll make you a deal. I’ll let you stay and
continue driving wagons as long as you pass a test
that I will give you right now.” The younger man
thought that the older man would force him to
leave town so he happily accepted the challenge.
The older man asked, “What happens if your
wagon gets stuck in the mud?” The younger
replied, “I’ll ask my passengers to unload their
packages to lighten the wagon so that it could be
pulled out of the mud. The older man asked, “What
happens if that doesn’t help and the wagon is still
stuck in the mud?” The younger replied, “I’ll ask
my passengers to get off of the wagon so that it
would be lighter, and it could be pulled out of the
mud.” The older man asked, “What happens if that
doesn’t help and the wagon is still stuck in the
mud?” The younger replied, “I’ll ask my
passengers to help push the wagon to get it out of
the mud.” The older man asked, “And what
happens if that doesn’t help and the wagon is still
stuck in the mud?” The younger replied, “I don’t
know. I give up.” The older man said, “Ah. So do
you agree that you failed the test and that you will
no longer drive a wagon in this town?” The
younger man replied, I agree that I failed. And I
will no longer drive a wagon in this town. But
please tell me the answer to that last question. What
would I do if all of those things don’t help me get
the wagon out of the mud?” The older man replied,
“There is no answer. But a good driver doesn’t
drive his wagon into mud that he can’t get out of.”
We have to realize that we are responsible for our
sins, but we are also responsible for putting
ourselves in the situations where we can’t avoid
those sins.

A Note from Nursing:
Fun January Facts:
See our special insert about the difference between Influenza vs. Gastroenteritis!
1. January is named after the Roman god Janus, who was always shown as having two heads. He looked back
to the last year and forward to the new one.
2. The Anglo-Saxons called January “Wulfmonath” as it was the month hungry wolves came scavenging at
people’s doors.
-Carolyn Stokes & Jennifer Dropik
3. It’s National Soup Month in the U.S.
Chef’s Corner:
Here’s the good news with a new year coming a new recipes
and a new employee. I was Looking for a new recipe for
meatloaf and I found a bunch of recipes for a vegetarian
meals, as more people want less animal protein, Vegetable
are the alternative heroes, so I planning to have more of the
vegetarian dishes in the coming menus. It’s good for the
people who prefer gluten free and minimally of the artificial
ingredients.

Nuts & Bolts:
As mentioned last month, we have installed new
security cameras in our Memory Care Units. Next will
be the hallways in Assisted Living. This is for the safety
of everyone living and working at Meadow Ridge. Also,
the swinging doors into the kitchen are now being
locked after the staff goes home. This is also for your
safety.

All frustrations drowned

as the new year rises array.
