Qualitative Observations
• Qualitative → Quality
•Descriptive details about an observation.
•Data can be observed but not measured.
EXAMPLES: Color, shape, texture, sound,
touch, etc.
Quantitative Observations
• Quantitative → Quantity
• Details about an observation that quantify
the observation using numbers.
•Data which can be measured.
EXAMPLES: Measurements, length, height, area,
volume, weight, speed, time, temperature, humidity,
sound levels, cost, ages, etc.
Qualitative vs Quantitative Data
Examples:
Qualitative: Mrs. Bricker has blue eyes.
Quantitative: Mrs. Bricker has two eyes.
