Drain pipes/fittings
Collecting and draining waste water is
one of the main problems in building
services today. The mechanization and
modernization of households, the growing
residential and sanitary comfort combined
with the increased health needs and the
emergence of aggressive media in domestic waste water place ever increasing
demands on the functionality and service
life of the waste water pipes. In order to
respond to these increasing requirements,
ACO Haustechnik offers a complete range
of drain pipes and fittings of steel in
the nominal sizes of 40 - 200 mm. The
nominal sizes DN 250 and DN 300 are
available upon request.
The waste water systems in building installations are the focus of the application
scope for GM-X drainage pipes and fittings
of steel. The GM-X system can be used for
connecting pipes, downpipes, collection
pipes, underground pipes, ventilation and
rainwater pipes.
When planning and creating waste water
plants with GM-X steel drain pipes of steel,
EN 12056 and
DIN 1986-100 must be observed.
Material
Drain pipes and fittings are made of
welded precision steel tubes according to
EN 10305-3.
Tensile strength: RM 310-410 N/mm2
Elongating at fracture: A5 min. 28%

Steel is characterized by its
excellent technological properties:
■■ Favourable acoustic response
■■ Non-combustible
■■ Frost-proof
Heat expansion
The thermal expansion of steel is extremely low. The increase in length is 1.1
mm when heating a pipe section of 1,000
mm in length by 100 ° C. The thermal
expansion generated when introducing hot
waste water therefore does not have to
be taken into account in the installation.
Usual expansion compensation materials
are omitted, even when concreting and
sealing, since steel has almost the same
expansion coefficient as concrete or
reinforced concrete.
Fire behaviour
The steel drain pipe is not combustible. It
meets the legal fire regulations without
restrictions. According to DIN 4102 and
DIN 1986 part 4, the steel drain pipe is
classified as building material class A 1 non-combustible - in its fire behaviour
.
Tightness
The density values required by DIN 1986100 are respected. All pipes and fittings,
including their connections are sealed at
an inner and outer excess pressure from
0 to 0.5 bar. The GM-X clamp must be
used as additional security against axial
thrust must be used for pipes, in which
higher pressures can occur, such as pressure lines of lifting plants and rain pipes
subject to backflow.
Instead of the security clamp, GM-X
retaining clips are delivered for the axial
retention for pipes and fittings DN 150
and DN 200.

coated on the inside with a plastic coating on an alkyd-melamine resin base. An

The GM-X sealing element offers several
advantages for reliably sealing the sleeve
joint:
The sealing lip is pressed more against
the inner wall of the pipe sleeve and
the outer wall of the assembled pipe by
special shape of the seal. This increases
the sealing action. The collar of the seal-
ing element rests on the edge of the pipe
socket and is visible after assembly. The
correct seating of the sealing element can
therefore even be seen after the assembly.
The sealing elements are manufactured of
a waste water resistant quality (according to DIN 4060) for the use in building
drainage:

Trimming
Pipe systems
Drain pipes/fittings
Cutting can be done with a pipe cutter, a
circular saw or a saw.
Pipes cut to length with a circular saw or
a saw must be deburred prior to insertion
into the sleeve so that the sealing element
is not damaged.
Releasing the socket connection
The insertion pipe is heated at the sleeve
edge until the pipe can be pulled from the
sleeve.
The sealing element must be replaced for
another assembly.
Underground installation
If the GM-X drain pipes are fitted with
a corrosion protection according to
DIN 30672, underground installation is
also allowed.
Embedding in concrete
If additives, such as antifreeze, inhibitors,
quick-bonders, are added to the bulk
material, the exterior of the pipe must
receive an appropriate protective coating.
The use of mounting clamps is recommended.
Connection with other types of pipe
The GM-X product range contains a series
of connecting pieces for the connection of
the GM-X pipe with other pipe types, such
as SML/KA/HT/KG.
Pipe attachment
The weight of the pipes plus the possible
water content must be included in the
selection of the fastening material of
horizontally installed pipes.

The inner and/or outer pipe can be delivered in stainless steel for use in the visual
field or in the event of a high content of
pollutants in the air or the waste water.
GM-X composite pipe

For added protection against freezing, we
recommend a GM-X composite pipe with
an added heater especially for the installation in unheated buildings and partially
open buildings.

Fire protection openings
Special fittings are offered for the wall
and ceiling opening of the GM-X composite
pipe, which correspond with MLAR/LAR
and RbALei. They allow the GM-X composite pipes to be passed through F90 walls.

The GM-X composite pipe consists of
an inner and an outer pipe. The cavity
created by the different diameters of the
two pipes is foamed with CFC-free PU
(polyurethane) foam. This foam combines
both pipes and isolates them from each
other. The standard outer pipe consists of
galvanized steel.
The GM-X inner pipe with plug-in socket
guarantees a quick and easy installation.
The socket connection and the sealing
element are in accordance with
EN 1123.
Advantages
Insulation and soundproofing
Insulation, condensate protection,
soundproofing and frost protection and
additional shock-proofing is provided by
the GM-X composite pipe.
Increased frost protection can be
achieved when using composite pipes
with additional heater.
Sound studies were carried out by the
Fraunhofer Institute in accordance with
EN 14366 and DIN 4109 and provided
with a certificate for a suitably soundproofed response. (Test report number:
P-BA 17/2009)
Economic processing
Since the media-carrying pipe of a GM-X
composite pipe is already insulated and is
delivered with an outer steel lining to the
site, you can save time with this industrial prefabrication of the insulation and
cladding.

The insulating layer between the inner and
outer pipe consists of environmentally
friendly CFC-free polyurethane foam. The

Functional reliability
The outer shell provides additional
protection against impacts of all types
and thereby increases the operational
reliability. The additional heater decreases
the risk of freezing at temperatures in
the frost area. Mould is prevented in the
ceiling and wall area by the condensate
protection.

■■ Water absorption: 1.7 – 1.8 %

EN 1366:B2
Economic assembly
For large sizes DN 100 - DN 200, the wall
thickness is kept as low as possible. This
reduces the overall pipe weight significantly. The impact on the reduction of
the mounting effort and easier installation

In general
GM-X filling and vent lines are used as
secondary lines from the last tank for tank
for all marketable tank types.
The filling and vent line GM-X range
includes special fittings that have been
especially developed for this application.
Parts from the GM-X product range can be
used for all secondary lines - consisting of
pipe sections and elbows

The required pipes are available in the
following versions:

Basic structure
Approval
ACO GM-X filling and vent pipes of steel,
corrosion protected by galvanizing or
zinc plating are certified by the German
Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) in
Berlin under the registration number AbZ:
Z- 38.4 - 205 general building inspection
for pressureless operated fuel oil tanks
for the storage of light fuel oil.
The legal water suitability determination
and the model approval under § 19 of the
Water Resources Act (WHG), 19 August
2002 is omitted for ACO GM-X filling and
vent pipes due to "AbZ" (general building
permit).

Basics of ceiling ducts for pipes
Ceiling ducts according to requirements with several pipe sleeves
Pipe ducts guide supply pipes (media
pipes) for water, electricity, gas and ventilation through sealed ceiling elements.
The duct of the media pipes is carried
out via sleeve pipes, waterproofing by the
compression-sealing flange of the pipe
duct
Depending on the structural requirements,
it can therefore be necessary to specifically design pipe ducts. The desired number,
arrangement, length and diameter of the
sleeve pipes are crucial to the size of the
duct plate.
On the right are three examples of the
combination for the arrangement ad diameter of sleeve pipes on pipe ducts. Sleeve
pipes up to DN 200 are generally used.
The flange widths start at 60 mm. If
needed, these can be designed larger.
A minimum distance of 35 mm must be
adhered to between the sleeve pipes.
Ceiling ducts according to requirements for alternative sealing
Pipe ducts can also be made by a sealing
membrane with an additional thin bed
flange for an alternative seal in addition
to the compression-sealing flange for
sealing.
The distance between the two flange
plates is adjusted specifically according
to the customer's specifications on the
structural conditions.

An additional thin bed flange is naturally
also possible if the pipe duct contains
several sleeve pipes.
